You know when you're on the toy isle with your kids and you come across the Hotwheels? There's always those over the top versions of the cars and you ask yourself, "Why can't they just make these normal looking"? That's how I feel about that rendering above. There seems to be too much extra (catch a kid's eye) crap on it...hood vents, front fender vents, break vents, rear fender vents, wing, window sticker outer, etc.

Remember, Jalopnik only released the top dog ZR1 rendering. The base models and Z06's may have many less scoops and vents, so thats something to consider.
Remember the 2006 Camaro concept? A ton of little things changed between the concept, rendering, and production.
Just check out the interior in the 5th gen camaro (scroll to bottom of page in link)
http://www.sport-cars.org/serve.php?t=chevroletcamaro Hell, it was supposed to have an LS2 and 22" rims!
Time and time again, Chevy has done a fantastic job of moving from concept, to renderings, to actual production and ending up with a very nice car, no matter what the model.

i just think the corvette has gone a wrong direction since the C3.
look i know folks want to compete against exotics in the looks dpeartment. They want the corvette to be considered in the same realm IMO.
that is not the market for the vette. LOW, STYLED, FLARED. styling man.
its an american sports car. i dont want foreign influences. thats why me and Tracy will be getting a 80ish model. too bad.
THAT car looks like a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon. exactly like a tiburon.

You think this rendering looks like a tiberon, and you want to buy an 80s vette? That must be some good stuff you are on...

I know, thats what I was saying. 80s Corvettes are hideous. Was wondering what kind of drugs he was on to want to buy an 80s Corvette and to think a tiberon looks like the jalopnik C7 rendering.

I don't understand the hate for the 5th gen Camaro taillight look.
The taillights are the only thing on the back of the new Camaro that doesn't look stupid. Even the SS emblem is too small and out of the way instead of in the center like it should be and the whole thing with them being red for a RS/SS makes them look even worse.

I completely agree with your post. The car has been an evolution of the same styling it had since the 80s and a shape that can easily be mistaken for any number of coupes on the market. The Corvette for being a flagship looks nowhere near as special or exotic as the Ford GT, Dodge Viper or even the Camaro it shares the same floor space with. The next Corvette should be revolutionary, not evolutionary. That's the major reason I think sales have been in the toilet the last several year.

I was one of the many people that were upset with the c5---->c6 transition. But after a couple years I grew to admire the c6 (especially after 2006 whent the z06 came back). If that jalopnik pic is a base corvette, i am really excited for the grand sport/zo6/zr1 type models
