Maybe because the 1970 LT1 was a badass engine? Why not reuse it? Guess what, the LS name has been used before too.

Maybe has a little to do with the gen 6 camaro thats on the way, and how bad lt1 fbodies dominated the old 5.0s and sn95s. answering the 5.0 coyote motor with the new lt1 iteration.

Me being fairly new to the LS world, where do you more experienced guys expect prices to be on these and do you think the introduction will drop the price any on LS engines?? Just curious because I was planning an LS3 swap into my 69 next year.

It will be quite some time until the new LT1 crate motors become available, especially considering that the Corvette that it's getting installed in isn't even going to be available to the public for at least another 6-9 months (or more?). And it will very likely be far more expensive to buy than an LS3 or LS2 is right now and those are both still great engines too.
