It would be cool to see the Force Team in GM's. No Idea what Tasca will do!

Ford Motor Company will drop all of their NHRA sponsorship after the 2014 season. In a press release Ford said,

“Ford is not getting out of drag racing. We are fully committed to continue our support of grassroots sportsman drag racing with our Mustang Cobra Jet, parts support and contingency programs. Enthusiasts and production-based racing is at the heart of what we do. We have, however, made a business decision to conclude our team sponsorships and support in the NHRA Mello Yello Series at the end of the 2014 season. This decision was based on an ongoing assessment of our motorsport programs’ effectiveness and the strategic alignment with our company objectives globally.”

Obviously the biggest loser in this decision will be John Force, who’s wrapped most of his corporate sponsorship around Ford. With Funny Cars running mystery bodies with Mustang headlight graphics and Chrysler hemi-based engines, and Pro Stock racecars running carburetors, there is a huge disconnect between what’s raced on Sunday and sold on Monday.

It’s also interesting that Sportsman racing, which the NHRA continues to undercut, is where Ford is putting its efforts and parts programs. The Cobra Jet Mustang and Ford Racing developments are a cool deal, and HOT ROD is happy to see it continue and prosper. It will be interesting to see what 2015 sponsorship holds for NHRA racing.

They talked about it all day during Sundays broadcast. Force didnt say much since he still has 1 1/2 years left on his contract with Ford and isnt going to bite the hand that feeds him. Looks like it will be down to Mopar and Toyota unless GM steps back into the ring in the Fuel classes.
