No, the 91 Corvette platform is EXACTLY the same as the same up to the 2013 Corvettes. Except the 2013s had floors made of balsa wood.

In that case, no wonder you were talking so much trash about it... The chassis used now is essentially the same as the Lincoln LS used and was updated under Mustang skin for the 2005+ model. Like the 1993-2002 F-body... Same thing for years.

The platform is similar, but it's not as close as they had originally planned because of costs.

They're aiming for a car they can sell well globally, not just the North American market. So the engine line ups make sense for foreign markets, same with IRS. With the departing '14 model, really signifies the end of an era. If you were looking for a modern 4th gen, the departing 5.0 was a lot closer in ilk than the 5th gen ever was.

Well here it pretty much is...

http://www.caranddriver.com/features...=1458_28229451

If this is it I dunno I like it but then I dont like it. Front screams fusion coupe, side looks like a FR-S and the rear is a rounded euro version of the current car.

good looking car. Mustang emblem in the front looks out of place as if from another era in this very modern looking car.

I like it, but to me, it looks way too much like current as opposed to all we've been seeing in print. I'm far more interested in the upcoming power trains and the joint effort between Ford and GM to offer 9-10spd transmissions.

I really like it. Waiting to see what they do with the weight on this bad boy. If the weights they were claiming are right (not saying I believe them), that would make for a ~3,300lb GT and a ~3,400lb GT500/GT350 with IRS!

That's the nicest Aston Ford BRZ GT 5.0 I've ever seen!

I thought this thread was about the Mustang?

The Aston theme is a given, all things considered... As is the 5.0 and "Ford" itself... But it was looking like a BRZ before there ever was a BRZ... Not fair to claim it copied a copycat of itself. The BRZ is a JOKE compared to every current model Mustang in existence. Then again, like it or not, that's the case for almost every car model on earth...

Wonder how plausible that hp bump is for the 2015 model? I'd like to upgrade, but it'd suck to jump up to the latest greatest only to have a tweaked engine model available 6 months later.
