Thankfully this is not Europe, but I think it has less to do with emissions and more to do with squeezing every ounce of fuel economy out of the vehicle. As a consumer though, I don't care about MPG down to that small of a degree. I'd rather not have this technology in the first place, so I'll look at OEMs/vehicles without it.

The small SUV start Very high 20's and quickly end up in the upper 30's to upper 40's..

Hold up I thought Ford liked to claim to be Americans best selling brand?
This move seems kind of stupid to me. There are a hell of a lot of Fusions on the streets around here. Carmax loves them as they sell like hot cakes. Taurus and Lincoln MKS are excellent values on the used car market. I'm trying to talk my wife into a late model SHO or MKS Ecoboost.
