1970 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 Convertible

Ever since the release of the 6.1L Hemi, I've pondered the possibility of dropping one into an old school Charger. How cool would that be I thought. About as cool as 1st gen F-Bodies with an LSX/T-56 swap, that's how cool. Well someone decided that it'd be even cooler to drop a 6.1L Hemi stroked to 6.4L into a '70 E-Body convertible. In this case, a Challenger. Man this thing is the hotness. On top of that, the people responsible for this NEWstalgic project solved the one problem area which stuck out in my head when I conjured up the idea for a retro-tech Mopar. A manual transmission. Unfortunately it does not state specifically what model tranny is used, but I am glad that someone has successfully bolted a stick shift to DCs new Hemi motor. If you ask me, this 6.4L version of the already potent 6.1L Hemi has a good chance at finding its way under the hood of much talked about 2009 Challenger. I'd really like to know what kind of trans is putting the power to the rear wheels though. If it is in fact a current production 6 speed of some sort, then there is a very good chance that the Challenger will be available with a manual transmission. This IMO is a MUST HAVE. If DC does do the Challenger and does an SRT-8 version with ONLY a 5 speed automatic, I'm going to kill someone. And since the next Challenger will be derived from LY (the replacement platform for the LX cars) if (AND IT BETTER) the Challenger does get a manual transmission, there's a good chance that it may trickle down into the Charger, Magnum and although I doubt it, the 300.
Anyhoo, excuse the shift for yourself rant and enjoy the car. E-Bodies are the hotness.
