nah the SS cobra was also out back in the day with that SS tag, wasn't it? late 60's? thought i saw one on barrett-jackson not too long ago.

I read that article in the latest Road & Track under the heading "better then a Viper or Vette?"
The times they got were 0-60 in 4.4 secs, 1/4 mile in 12.5, and a top speed of 150. Sounds like a slightly modified LS1 numbers to me, but what do i know, my car is "slow".

Well, considering dealerships were marking up some GT500's well above 80k... expect a whole lot more for show room floor 725HP.
And the camaro/mustang discussion...I bought a Camaro because the stock 5.7L is > 4.7L, and you can't dispute that. In comparison to my Z, the '00 GT is a tank with horrible interior. That's just one man's opinion though...having owned both.
