Still doesn't change the facts. Get personal all you want, but you should back up your statements. It's ok to be wrong sometimes, don't let it get you down. Just try not to always believe everything you HEAR.

Back on topic, the EPA thrives on pushing "feel good" legislation. Sports cars are an easy target because that market is a relatively small minority that can be easily pushed aside by a huge government agency. Same thing is happening with other freedoms, people are just complacent or just too lazy to care.

We can always mod v8's. They just want the manufacturers to focus more on gas economy than making the faster car. I can agree with that. GM is just whining to scare you guys. They can build gas economical cars just the same to offset their few sports cars. They abviously have the technology. I've always wished I could have a gas economical daily and a fun weekend car like my T/A, I have an integra for a daily but with todays insane gas price's I wish I had a better choice, but there's not much out there that can beat an integra's gas economy...yet...the more money you guys save in your pocket instead of throwing away at the pump, the more you'll have left over to mod your car, I don't see why everyone is whining and complaining.

They make more money, so they need a smaller percent of their total income than someone who makes considerably less. The key word there is NEED. No one needs a 120 acre plot of land with a bajillion square foot house. The fact is that people that make more can afford to give more, and you can't always count on someone to spend a lot of money.
While I wish what you suggest was true.....
AMENDMENT XVI
Passed by Congress July 2, 1909. Ratified February 3, 1913.

Note: Article I, section 9, of the Constitution was modified by amendment 16.

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.
This has not been since modified or repealed by any other amendments.

There's wackos on both sides. Failure to realize such leads to misguided judgment, misinformation, no information, loss of common sense and ability to reason, and oral diarrhea. Personally, I have no political affiliation, I tend to lean republican on certain issues and democratic on others. Right now, the republican party disgusts me. They're not republicans, they're neo-conservative theocrats. Republicans were typically fiscally conservative, favored small government and low taxes, and promoted personal freedom. Many modern "republicans" want big spending, big government, low taxes for the rich, less personal freedom for the sake of "national security", no personal privacy, and oil oil oil. Modern democrats just want socialism.
Your last sentence shows how and why the jackass party is downright evil and a threat to true American principles. While I won't argue that modern Republicans are really just RINOs (Republican In Name Only), the threat the jackasses pose to the 2nd Amendment and to individual freedoms means that the RINOs must, however unfortunately, be supported.

My point was that the lib who was talking about "right wing wackos humping the leg of big buisness, giving them tax free operation privledges and taking handouts" was an idiot who has bought the hype, hook-line-and sinker, from the press, and even teachers, all of whom (with exceptions being so rare as to be negligible) are full blown libs themselves, offering only a 1 way biased view painting any-non jackass as 'teh Ev1l', when in fact, their own party is EVERY BIT as guilty of it. (someting I'm sure you already know, just sayin' )

Thank god for speed shops!!!! Let them take the hp down on the cars. We mod our cars anyways, so what is the differance. They can't stop us from doing that, so they are wasting their time and our tax payers money for stupid **** like this.

Hell my Z06 was getting the same amount of mpg as my buddies saturn is. So, what is the EPA bitching about? "F" them, let them do it. We will just go aftermarket like we normally do for more hp!

Politicians, all of them are full of BS!
Its just like arguing about what your beliefs are, you are never going to win. Everybody has their own opinion. As far as I am concerned this country as a whole is in the crapper. Thanks to good ol bush, i didn't vote for him. Anybody could easily see in watching his speechs and in his debates that is a RETARD!!!! We need to fix this country as a whole first. Don't worry about everybody else, except for Bin laden. A republican will not be voted in as president, democrat for sure. Just like our right to vote for a president, what a scam that is too. Bush lost the vote in florida but still won the electoral votes, Stupid!

What it boils down to is that the EPA will do what it wants, so not much we can do about it. We will mod the cars, take off the convertors anyways.

As if to demonstrate the fact that liberals don't research, beleive only what they want to beleive, and get confused by facts. Bravo.

The Office of the President of the United States (which actually should be These United States, not The, but n/m, I don't want to increase the confusion) does NOT have the power to do pretty much ANY of what you howling moonbats love to accuse him of (or praise him for when it's a criminal treasonous bastard like bubba in there). The fact is he can't do anything without the support of congress and the Fed. Everything that has happend has happend because of the manipulation of the interest rate, the printing of money, and the laws passed by congress or legislated from the bench of the Supreme Court. The President can only urge congress to do something, but ultimately it's in their hands, not his. Sorry to burst your bubble (ok, I'm not really, but sadly, I know the facts are falling on deaf ears because you'd rather live in a fantasy world).

Furthermore, the whole concept of a "popular vote" is a fantasy drummed up by the Jackass party (talk about truth in advertising, they could NOT have picked a better symbol lol!), right along side many of the other fantasies they love to push on people.

It's a state by state system, not a mass population count for a VERY good reason, but to understand that, you'd have to understand a heck of a lot more about history, and the way everything is designed to work than you actually do. Trying to hand-hold you through that process is too much for this thread (or possibly any thread). Just know that your populist dreams are not how reality works. It's never been that way, and the fates willing, never will be that way. And there have been other times when the elected man won by electoral count only and not so-called "popular vote". This is not a new or even in-feasible phenomenon.

The worst part is that you claim it's "in the crapper" now, when it's actually better than it was under Bubba, and in truth, VERY little has actually changed since FDR - AT ALL. And if you can actually think that a possible muslim or socialist psycho bitch would make things better, then you prove just how insane all you lot really are.

all I have to say is great OPINION!

So what do you think we should do then???

You talk about that this country is in not any worse shape then it was under Bubba. LOL, you can keep telling yourself that. Lets see, involved in a war that has done nothing but claim the lives of soldiers that protect this country. The unemployment rate is the highest as it has ever been and the housing market is in the tank. Lets see what was so bad that Clinton did? The economy was great, very low unemployment rate, and no bs war to speak of. So he got caught getting BJ's from another woman besides his wife. He's not the first one and won't be the last, they just made it public on him. Anyways you have your opinion and so do I. We all can argue about this all day and accomplish nothing.

I can agree that the whole govy is one big disaster.

The fact of whether or not the 16th Amendment was even ratified by enough states to be passed into law is a hotly contested topic. However, the nail in the coffin is the Supreme Court's ruling on said Amendment in Stanton v. Baltic in 1916: "The provisions of the 16th Amendment conferred no new power of taxation." So if they couldn't tax our personal income before the passing of the 16th Amendment, they couldn't tax our personal income after the passing of the 16th Amendment.

Yea, Bush isn't solely to blame. He plays a major role, but couldn't have accomplished much without his rubber-stamp congress. However, the office of President allows Bush to heavily influence Congress, despite is deplorable approval rating. Partly because the Democratically controlled Congress has the backbone of a caterpillar, and partly because the Democrats don't have enough votes to override the BS Bush thanks to the leftovers from the rubber-stamp congress. However, Bush has taken powers that he does not have, and no one calls him on it. Signing Statements, for example, are illegal. Congress could write a law that applies directly to him and his office, and he'll add a signing statement that says "this law does not affect me or the office of the president", and no one stands up and says: "Hey! You can't do that!". He is essentially writing legislation with those signing statements, a power which he DOES NOT HAVE. Also, Bill Clinton was pretty good for the economy, but I don't want to see his wife become president. She's scary.

I, too, have qualms about the system. One of the problems is that not every state has the same amount of say in what happens. With these early primaries, states that hold their primaries toward the end become meaningless in any race that isn't a dead heat. All primaries should be held on the same day, and all results released together. That way we get results that are representative of how people feel and who people support in various parts of the country.

Another problem is the voting system. People are presented with a myriad of potential candidates and have to choose one person and one person only. People end up voting for who they think can win (severely influenced by the media) instead of who they think will do the best job. A ranking system where you can rank a low-profile candidate high and a high-profile candidate low, and not feel like you threw away your vote.

I wouldn't say our economy is better than it was under Clinton. The value of the dollar is dropping like a lead balloon (screw you Mythbusters), the middle class is disappearing, and even millionaires aren't feeling so wealthy anymore.

Actually, a lot of what he posted was fact, not opinion. You need to do more reading and less talking. Not to say your views are invalid, just that you need to be able to back them up. Oh, and Clinton didn't get in trouble for getting the BJ, he got in trouble for lying about it. What I don't understand is how Bush can tear apart the Constitution, the very fabric of our government, and subsequently immunizing himself from being tried, and no one so much as bats an eye. Yet everyone was up in arms about Clinton lying about a *******.

Hey... why the hell don't we just run our engines on hydrogen and put an end to this bs? That'd be great... hydrogen has more BTUs than gasoline anyways (incase you were dropped on your head as a child... more BTUs = more horsepower!)

The United States is turning into something that it was never intended to be. It a shame. You are right tho, this is about freedom of choice and every choice the government takes away from the citizens is on step closer to communism. i wonder at what point the citizens are going to realize what is going on and take active steps to prevent **** like this. next they will try to regulate how much horsepower you can use at the track. this is just pathetic. the thing that gets me is these tree huggers and liberals going around making this fuss about ****, but do you see conservatives trying to change anything that liberals like that isn't a question of morals? we don't try to tell them how many trees they can hug, or how many sea otters they can rescue.

*EDIT* i am all for coming up with cleaner ways of making power, especially MORE power, but it wouldn't surprise me if there are already quite a few different methods already developed but not in use because it would put certain major corporations out of business. so until they make cleaner ways of making 600hp, and do so in an affordable way, the EPA can stfu and i will just play with what i can afford.
