Next gen F-Body news...
Nothing really definite, but I heard:
-There will be a new f-body at some point in the near future
-St. Therese plant closing was also driven by high union/ labor costs
-But I have not heard of any palpable testing of new f-cars, so I am concerned that we are talking 2005 actual release since the lead time has to be like a year
-My personal theory is that the GTO, which will be made here in year two of production, will be the platform for a new Chevy counterpart... Seems to me that's the most likely scenario and that would minimize the length of time it takes to get a new chevy F-car or RWD V8 car out. I anticipate a new Chevy offering to be RWD, IRS, and built off a smaller sporty platform like the Holden/ Catera stuff... Maybe not that small.
-I think we will see a migration of the new sporty cars to be more refined, a shorter wheelbase, and based off the Gen III engine family.
If anyone has any confirmed F-Body info you can email it to me anonymously:

If an when they do bring them back I would like to see some seperation of the two. Different engines available between them mostly.Off the Firebird/Trans Am with Supercharged or Turbo 8's and the Camaro with big displacement. Something along those lines.

Personally, I wouldn't buy another F-body if there was no Firebird. I'd buy a GTO.
I've always said the only Chevy I will ever own will have the letters "CORVETTE" on the back of it.

I wouldn't either. I think if I don't keep my current till it's worthless, i'm going to look into a used Z06 or a new C6, but probably not since i'm just going to be pissed that I can't afford a C6 Z06 variant.

I wanted to see more of the car. I could careless about the clown talking about '64 Mustangs.
I sure hope GM brings back the f-body. Maybe forged internals with forced induction from the factory?

Re: Next gen F-Body news...
a while back, i heard that Generous Motors was thinking of making it a 4 door front wheel drive family car, ala malibu and impala, both cars that are not worthy of the name. the last good impala was made on dec 13 96, and im still wondering how my mighty chevelle coulda had its engine cut in half?
