Finally, it was pretty bad that a 4th gen v6 could keep up with a 2010 mustang v6. This much needed upgrade is good because also means the GT will for sure get its new motor as well.

Wonder how much more they will cost?

Im gonna guess that they will be pretty similar in price with Ford having the advantage but GM will have more standard. The base cars will be within $500 of each other.

Good news on teh V6 though. Its about time Ford updated the base Mustang and Im sure itll be a great powerplant. It doesnt look too appealing though without an engine cover on.

I am going to guess 425. My guess is Ford will want to keep the Mustang numbers greater than or equal to the Camaro. To the average non car guy, they will see that the Camaro makes 426hp (at least the M6), and IF the Mustang is only rated at 400hp, they will assume the Camaro will walk all over the Mustang. They won't take weight into account.

The Camaro making more HP than the Mustang has not really deterred people from buying the Mustang before, but it looks like the Mustang is wanting to compete performance wise now.

Thats just my opinion though.

probably will be 400, remember the GT500 will have to stay at least 100 hp ahead of the Mustang otherwise the GT500 will not be so "special" anymore.

What about a base Corvette and a Z06? Theres about a 75hp difference there. I know there is more to a Z06 besides added HP, but its the same story with a GT vs a GT500.

You could be right though. I guess we will find out soon.

I'm not impressed at all. How many of these "new" model mustangs will it take before they get it right so to speak. I don't pay attention to mustangs too much, mainly because I could careless about them, but wasn't it back in 05 when the new body style came out. I remember GT mustang owners bragging how they could beat LT1s finally. Jesus that car was 13 some odd years old in design at the time. Till this very day they can't even hang with LS1 cars without heavy modifications. Now this is like the 3rd version? I think that's pathetic, I guess 3rd times a charm. Not to mention they need forced induction on their v6 to play with a n/a camaro V6 camaro.

And here's the *** kicker, these cars are more money on average than chevy cars. I just don't get what the interest is. Why would I want to pay more money for something with less power, that will rust faster? You know it's probably going to bomb because ford will come out with an outrageous price range in comparison to other cars, just like it has done for the past generations. I mean you can get a 02 GT mustang or a LS1 Z28 today for the same price, wtf is wrong with ford LOL! Ok, I guess I'll call up ford and make the switch when I decide that I want to slow down.

well, apparently Ford has been doing something right with the Mustang, it has been in continuous production for 45+ years.
According to you, it must just be all the stupid people that don't know what their buying--and not Ford actually building something that people like and want to own. Is that correct?

Maybe everyone in the world isn't so concerned about horsepower as you are. They might be more interested in the looks and style of the car. That could be just one possible explaination for the success of the Mustang over the years.

What do you think could explain it?

Ford has been getting it right since 1964. GM is doing good with the new Camaro, but who knows how long that will last. Ford doesn't give a **** if a Camaro walks all over it. They care about how many they sell. Now the Camaro is doing well, and they have to compete with GM. GM is the one that couldn't get it right until now.

Did you come up with that speech all on your own? God, I am so sick of hearing that ****.

The Mustang has been more expensive then the Camaro? Since when?

And for the record, the new 3.7 DOHC NATURALLY ASPIRATED V6 in the '11 V6 Mustangs is gonna have just as much power as the V6 Camaros. And "rust faster?"

They said it was fact in the article, but who knows.

On a side note, the comments are hilarious.

"Besides, it's a 5.0L V8, has anybody ever heard a V8 of that size that doesn't sound good?"

Alot of those guys are acting like a 5.0 is huge.

I am too. I can't wait to see how it does at the strip, as well as on a road course. It sounds like it would be a really fun DD.

2011 Mustang GT
412 hp 390 torq
http://wot.motortrend.com/6620307/we...v-8/index.html

So it handles better, better interior, weighs less, and now has as much power while still costing less.

You guys know I'm just messing, just rubbing it in since I've heard the opposite for as long as I've owned GT's. Can't wait to rub in my buds face that has two F-body's and a Vette. Who has preached "Every year, year for year the Camaro was always better."
