V8 Colorado, canyon, where the hell is it.
I went and got some gmc dealer brochures since I am in the market and fell over when I saw the truck complete with v8 badges. Sales guy did not have a clue they were even talking about it. Does anyone have a clue if they are actually going to give it to us or is gm pissing around as usual like they are with the camaro.

You have to consider that most GM salesmen last for about 3 weeks, so their knowledge is generally limited. Figure late summer, possibly early fall is when they should be available.
I've been considering trading my '04 colorado in on a v8 Z71 4X4 crewcab at somepoint. But I think I'll wait and see what kind of gas mileage people are actually getting out of them, before pulling the trigger.

A salesman told me at the dealership that its going to be around 26mpg highway but im not sure how true it is. Makes sense though since a Silverado is around 1500 pounds more and could get 21-22 highway

'04 colorado crewcab has the 2.8L 4cyl./M5 combo. I average consistently 20-21mpg in the city and 24-26 on the highway. I talked to someone with the 3.7L I-5/auto and he said he averages 16-18 city and 21-22 highway. Driving conditions/style can cause a variation, but I doubt that a V8 colorado will see 26mpg on the highway, probably closer to 20-22mpg.

If that is all that 5 cylinder can manage on the highway I am for sure going to either wait for the v8 or buy a fullsize. I did an lq9 6.0 into my 02 sonoma. I just got it where I can drive it again. I still need to finish the interior. I drove it on a three hour trip back to college station this last week and with the options listed next extcab stepside, 3:42 gears a-4 dynotune, cats 245/50zr16's and it managed to make a solid 24 MPG using the a/c and cruise the whole way and getting on it a couple of time to go around cars. I dont see why the colorado can't manage 20 plus. If anything a quick tune and a trip to the exhaust shop may be all it needs to do it. Lots of power in a small light package should net really nice economy. Now if the bastards will give it to us has yet to be seen. About like the camaro we are all waiting on GM as usual is late to the dance.
