That is very interesting. It is cool to see the data acquistion equipment being used as a crash data recorder like aircraft use and the airbag modules in modern vehicles can be used.

It will be interesting to see if NHRA follows up on this, as stated in the article. After all, there still hasnt been a formal press release on the cause of Darrell Russell's passing. NHRA, as well as NASCAR seem to be detached, or un-responsible for the safety of their drivers. Its the independent teams that motivate the safety improvements.
NASCAR had no less than 2 drivers die of basal skull fractures before Dale SR. died. They could have mandated HANS devices then. It wasnt until Dale SR died, that they decided they should mandate things such as the HANS device, which most likely would have saved SRs life.
Eric Medlen died from being SHAKEN to death. NHRA hasnt done **** to change the cars. Its been JFR and FORD.
You have to realize this is a non-profit organization (the NHRA) that aint payin out **** to the pros, while a few get rich. The entire sanctioning body needs an overhaul.
RANT/OFF!!!!

yea, thats right, force the organization to make them protect themselves. dale SR CHOSE to use a shitty open face helmet because he could see better. medlen's accident was because he was knocked unconcuious rom the tire shake then slammed into the wall. it is up to the teams to innovate NOT the organization. if they want to be unsafe... then thats on them not the nhra or nascar. john force did it because he felt guilty for medlens death and feared for the safety of his daughter, not because he thought it was the nhra's responsibility to keep them safe. its a dangerous sport... if you dont like it.. dont do it.
