Like or dislike, the Viper has always had it's own distinctive sound.

Just saw the video, looks like the guy is too scared to take both hands off the wheel coming out of the turns Viper's are known to lose the back end. That little **** up at 3:03 didn't help him either. I wonder why kind of G's he's pullin at the sharper corners.

Wow simply amazing. I am sure that GM will give it another go thats for sure. However this car is capable of 7.teens as he missed 2 shifts, hit the rev limiter many times, he set the record on just his third pass in the ACR. That was the first time the driver had ever driven an ACR. He faced a pretty strong headwind on that final straight - so much so that the Viper's stock gearing and enormous down force made it impractical to use 5th gear. of course the strong down force is what allows it to corner so well. We have just witnessed a great accomplishment by an american company. For those that have not seen the results

Is it truly better looking or is simply more rare looking?
I'm guessing that if the powers that be made/sold 30k+ Vipers per year or even made/sold only 4k Corvettes per year (since day one) that those lines would become very blurred. I do believe that all Vipers are great looking (I almost bought one a few times in the last 8 years) but if GM/Chevrolet chose to go that same route (low volume/high price) with the C6 the percerption would be the very same as well because it too is an attractive design/fast car.

People simply tend to get more excited over things they just don't see every day (up here I do see at least one Viper per week by the way).
I saw a woman at the local supermarket the other day with a new Smart car, more people gathered around (and stood there longer) that then I've seen gather around the last 3 Vipers or Ferraris that I've seen parked out in public LOL.
It's all relative.

Exactly. Park a clean C2 (1964-1967) Corvette next to any car and it ain't disappearing.

That I cannot argue with, it is a pure sports car in the strictest sense of the word, a virtual AC Cobra 427/Cobra Daytona for the new millenium, but better.

I can't believe we're talking looks between the two greatest performers America has to offer.

Neither is WAY MORE pretty than the other... That stuff is personal taste anyway, guys... Let's keep talking track times!

Well, the viper driver didn't give it all it had, and the previous lap with the ZR1 whoever was driving that for the 7:26 time also had several screw ups. It will be a never ending battle.

I disagree. I got drug by an old '95 RT/10 with some work done to it + full exhaust. I was creaming in my pants as its side pipes pierced my ear drums and totally drowned out the sound of my loud *** car.

Sick.

Not suprised at all. That driver did look scared to take one hand off the wheel. Can't say I blame him, that car is a handful. I would say the acr needs a lower gear but its already alot of car going out of corners. In the right hands should be a great race between the ACR, ZR1 and i'd like to see a tuned 911 GT2.

It depends on your exhaust system, just like any car. Straight pipes on a Viper sound like ***, but I also think a Borla on a 4th gen f-body sounds like *** too. Mine doesn't sound bad at all (to me):

If you think this sounds like an UPS truck, well then my friend it seems that you are a rare breed and your ears are deceiving you. Maybe you are talking about a stock exhaust, even then it doesnt sound like a UPS truck? Yes I know the Blower helps, but dang listen to that exhaust on that Roe Supercharged GTS. Do you really think that sounds like a UPS truck? Maybe a UPS truck that has a Viper Engine and exhaust with blower

You must not be talking to actual Viper owners because very few think it sounds like a UPS truck actually.
