Retrofitting an '09 rear into an '04-'07
Does anybody have this in the works? Apparently the '09 is built to handle the job. I'm wondering if this is an effective solution to our rear end woes.

The rear swap WOULD NOT be a bolt and go - quick and easy job. No sir, this would take lots of $$ and lots of trial-n-error.

Ok thanks for the answer guys. I had searched around and hadn't seen anything. I knew about the lug conversion, but I hadn't seen anything about dimensions or mounting points. So it's looking like pretty much any option when it comes to upgrading the rear in my car is a $5k job minimum. That's shitty, but I'll deal with it. I just want to explore every available option before I go dumping a bunch of money on something when a better setup could be had for cheaper.

If you know someone that can fabricate the parts for the conversion wouldn't be 5k but I'm guessing it would be over 3k.
I'd suggest the KARS kit until someone makes a more cost effective replacement(which will be never IMO)

yeah definately. I just met him last week and we kind of touched on the subject. Samething, too many things for an easy bolt on switch. Hey if youre gonna go nutty on the car, might as well do it all the way. If not the rear'll bust anyhow.

From what I can see in the pics, They use the Viper diff with the bat wings cut off and slightly modded SRT 10 axles. Just really need to figure out how they mounted it to the cradle.

The original Kars kit fabricator had engineered a new design. He made two. One of which is still alive and well in an owners car on the forums. I don't think he'll ever build another.

Our rears for the CTS-V's are perfectly fine. There were some bugs that needed to be worked out, but all of the kinks are gone, and noone has had any problems recently. We are always willing to give our help/advice and to fix any problems someone has with one of our products (when that occurs). Skydiver is very happy with his rear end in his car, as are the other guys who bought our set-up.
