Default bad shfter...help!!! 2005 cts-v

Basically i can put my car in any of my gears and move my shifter left and right as if it were in nuetral. any ideas? will a short shifter fix my problem? Is it shift linkage? is there a diy that i can do to fix this?!?! im going crazy.

also. it is very difficult getting it in reverse, i pretty much have to force it in.

sounds liek a stock shifter to me. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the shifter. Mine does the same thing, the factory ones are just sloppy. A short throw will be more tight and smooth but they aren't cheap.

I have a Katech here. Love the feel. You have to thread the stock **** with the supplied tap or buy an aftermarket ****.

1st and Reverse can be a bit Tricky. A shifter will help shifting, but Bushings is what you need... Call Luke at Lindsay Cadillac and get the Shifter bushings.

A trick I learned for Reverse is to Put Pressure on the shifter while engaging the clutch, and it pops in...

Check your clutch fluid reservoir, it is probably bone dry. Put DOT3 brake fluid in there and reverse should go in better.

No part number needed. Call Lindsay Cadillac and ask for Luke. He'll know what you're talking about.

FWIW, the UUC bushings will only improve the feel if you stock bushings are in bad shape. However, if they aren't already in bad shape they will be at some point, and the UUC ones will last forever.

You should really consider a short shifter in combo with the bushings if you really want to tighten things up.
