i know i'm reviving this thread, but I need some help and those part #s above are not working out for me. The Gates 38131 and 89222 both cross reference each other according to the NAPA computer but I am unable to use wither with the style of bracket that I have on my car. I don't have access to a camera, but the 38131 has a flat mounting area with an arm that extends directly out to adjust the belt which would require a flat tensioner mount. The tensioner I have installed has a recessed circular mount and the tensioner I removed from the car has a circular mounting area and the arm extends from the top portion of the tensioner only therefore not interferring with the recessed mount. I know this is really confusing and I will try to get a picture posted if I can, but if any of you have any other part #s or advice I would appreciate it. You can actually see the difference in the tensioners in the photo above. How could they mount on the same bracket? There are also no useful #s on the tensioner itself

Get the dayco tensioner from Advance. The gates is different and won't work.

Is the tensioner bending or is it an issue with the pulley and bearings?

This was on an 04 Maggied V and looks exactly like the gates on Amazon. I guess you need to use your old pulley.

just to follow up, i had to purchase a replacement tensioner bracket as well as two bolts from magnuson which totaled $36 + ride. The bracket is marked LS3 corvette and the tensioner was for 87-95 f150,e150 in case that helps anyone. So if you are upgrading your tensioner to the beefier version you also need a new bracket from magnuson
