Default CTS-V specific problem areas? What to expect for my $$$?

Kind of a two question thread...

I'm not a stranger to the LSX platform in the least, but I am completely new when it comes to the CTS-V. I know the rear diff. can be a week link (hello fbody 10bolt?). Any other problem areas that I should be aware of? Anything besides the obvious that should just make me run away from a particular car?

I'm looking to be into something by February or March, and needing to spend no more than $18,500 to keep my payments where I want them to be for a 36mo loan term . What should I expect to get into for between $16,000-$18,500 with an '04-'06?

Thanks!

AS for problems, use the search button it will answer far more then when can remember.

youll have a hard time finding an 06 for 18k but expect an 04-05 with higher miles and basic wear and tear. it wont be mint. youll also have to buy froma private seller most likely, dealers are in the 20s still.

Well, like you already listed, the rear can be a problem area on the V. The other problem that has come up is the motor mounts wearing out.

mine has 60k, and my motor mounts and diff bushings are shot..
You can expect to replace those.

Also had to replace the battery.

Other then that it depends on your driving style.

i also killed me clutch after installing headers and a cam package.

Thanks for the information fellas. I'll take sometime tonight after work to use the search function. As with anything its probably just going to be a game of waiting until something comes a long and not needing to buy the first thing that might be "close".

If I was ready to buy today I'd be going to look at this one: http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...5&aff=national

So they are out there. I'll keep you guys up to date on my search for a "V" as it progresses.

Thanks again!
