Default Engine Ideas

Alright so I wanna get a CTS-V and I know they either come with a LS6 or LS2, hence I am looking at the older versions. Do you guys think I should stroke those motors out and Put a S/C on. Or should I get a Bareblock of either a LSx,C5-R Block, LS7 or LS3. I kinda don't know what to do. I know these cars have weak rear ends so that will have to be addressed.

I figured if i got an LS6 Id bore it out a 427 or something. But I really don't know. I mean is their Pro's to getting an LSx Block or a C5-R block for that matter. I am really lost on what to do. I wanna at least be able to keep up and beat 03-04 Cobra's. I know their an a league of their own though lol.

Going after the terminator is a tall task with these 4 door cruisers.

First off. Be prepaired to dump 7500 bucks on a custom 9inch IRS.

After that, you can't go wrong when it comes to power adders. I bought a magnacharger because it would bolt on and is a proven strategy for a little extra power with these cars. Although, I think your gonna need something a little bigger for your application. Custom turbo solution?

Yea I know what you mean. I have though about a rear mounted turbo, but we'll see, I could always get a Pro-charger. F1-A. But well see. If I can manage to fit a whipple under the hood that would be cool. Or even the LSA Supercharger that would be cool as well. but from my understanding you can't do a pulley swap on them.

I'd go with the cheapest motor option and do like Dr. Nick suggest and buy a rear. 300rwhp will break the rear like 1000rwhp will. Get the rear situated then worry about the hp/tq numbers.

In my opinion, if you're building a drag car, the V is the wrong place to start .

From a cash standpoint, you'd be better off with a Camaro, a Firebird or even better, a Fox body with a Gen III/IV .

If you want to be unique, or just have very deep pockets, go for the V.

A 6.2 case with a 4" crank, LS3/L92 heads, the right cam, 1 7/8" headers and a quality ported LS3 intake (or the new FAST LSXR intake) would be a fairly good start and reasonably economical. It could also be adapted to an FI application (my choice would be a Procharger) later on.

Got an infraction for showing a vid with a guy cussing even though I put NWS in the title of the thread.

Oh well, the tech is a great forum and I split my time.

yea skydiver is his name if you wanna talk to him. im gonna say if you want 10s, build the rear, build the motor, and spray a 200 shot. your gonna be talking about a car that has more then 45k invested on the very low end by the time you hit 10s. can you imagine what you could do with that kind of money on a fox body or camaro.

Yea I definitely see what you mean, there's alot of variables that go into it. But it be badass none the less. I mean it would be a great sleeper none the less you know what I mean? I wouldn't mind a 454 LSx F1-A Procharged engine in their along with the 9 inch rear. that would be some crazy caddie.

yea i wish i had trhe money to do it but in all honesty for the money i could find a lot better platform to make a 10 second car. plus, your gonna be extremely limited with weight because the fact of having a fast *** caddy is for the luxury, which your gonna have to give up to get into the 10s with the seats that weigh a ton and all the heavy interior components and suspension.

That's with DR's...but with more seat time I'm sure he can get into the 10's...but his Madman rear is broke again....the V is not a drag car..no matter what you do...10's are achievable...but not likely without close to doubling your investment on the car.

This is true. I wouldn't mind having an F-Body SS.
