Damn, all yall have fairly low mileage. Surprised more people arent closer to 100k since ive seen some with well over 100k on ebay. I personally was trying to go cheap to save some money for mods since im still in school and since ill most likely build a motor for it later anyway. Car is a clean black/tan 04 but has close to 100k on it. Not worried since ive seen camaros running well over 200k miles modded and beat on. These LSX motor hold up!
She has a few good mods and was under extended warranty until it just hit 100k. Picking it up tomorrow.

105k on it now. Major Modding history:
11 miles: Corsa & FG2
10k miles: RT cats, LPE intake, Katech TB & tune
30k miles: Kooks headers (ditched the RT cats)
45k miles: Fast 90 & some other pre-cam supporting mods
60k miles: cam, rockers, UD pulley, etc.
I've had my fair share of problems, however the vast majority were small things that warranty handled, or self inflcited issues from the race track. No major problems since waranty ran out (2+ years ago).
Still love this car, and drive it (a lot) every day.

Plan to mod it and get some pretty good mileage out of the stock shortblock before i build one and drop it in. Its going to be a daily driver/project for me from here on out. Cant wait to start playing with it!

2004 CTS-V
140,506 miles
All original except tires, battery, oil filter, oil, air filter, front brake rotors and pads.
Obviously a daily driver.
I put about 52k miles/year on her. I use ONLY 87 octane--the cheapest I can find.
Just changed the trans fluid today. Smooth shifts! (original clutch/pressure plate) I have added clutch fluid several times.

Did you purchase out of state and have it shipped? I was thinking about doing this but im a bit Leary of shipping a car and then again I was thinking about cashing in some of my miles, taking a free flight and road trip it back home. I'm just wondering who you used and how much its costing if you dont mind me asking.
Thanks!
Jeff

To ship from the Colombus Ohio area to the Albany NY area it cost me $425. I used a broker named G&L Enterprises I believe. It gets picked up Monday. I have a cousin that has purchased 3 different Cobras out of state and had no problems. Each truck has $100,000 worth of insurance standard and they do a pre pickup inspection with the seller and a post delivery inspection with the buyer.

Thats not a bad price either. It would cost somewhere in that range in gas alone and time to get the V back here from the places i've been looking. So thats not a bad option. So did you set this up or did the dealer? Also, did you hire someone locally to check out the car before making the purchase? Thats the biggest thing im scared about is buying a lemon or a car that was abused to hell and then you are stuck with it.
Thanks for the info, gives me more to think about thats for sure!

it should be able to run on 87 since not every country has greater then 87 available all the time. also the cars ecu should be able to pull enough timing to let the car drive just fine.

hXc95sls,
liqidvenom is correct. The ECU pulls timing and costs you about 12 RWHP. No biggie when running up and down the highway. If you want to race, put in some 93 octane.
I've never had the first problem with the car pinging or missing on 87 octane...and this is my 2nd 2004 V. It runs smooth as silk. The first V had 121k miles on it when it was wrecked, and I only used 87 octane in it.
Maybe you got some bad gas and/or water in the gas?

The quality of the gas seems to reflect on were a person lives. The ethenol they are adding is not helping either. Around here, I can't run less than 93 in my performance cars... they hate it. Even the ECU can't make up for it.
