Default Gauge Pod on Steering Column Trim

i have seen one before in the center but it blocks to much of the the Gauges IMO.. I got an aeroforce, i poasted the same thing on the other forum but some only use one

This is the first time i'm messing around with fiberglass so take what i say with that in mind!
i have no idea what im doin

Total time building the pod...3hrs.. i took a bunch of beer/sangwich breaks

$15 for supplies is way cheaper then buying a craptasitc pod of ebay and then trying to make it look good

So rip off the steering column trim and mask it off

get some PVC pipe cut it to size .. i just found scraps in the garage.. lay a thin layer of Resin on the masked off surface.. lay some fiberglass mat.. lay some more resin.. place the PVC ... position it. wrap it wit some resin.. work fast it drys quick..

let it rest for 20.. and then hit it again
front

i put another screw in as well over to the right about an inch

Its not perfect by any means but it gets the job done..

I have been detailing for my boys ( the owners of Glow Shift) and we are currently working on a single steering column guage pod and a dual pod for top or center air vents.... or air vent delete and fill with pods... not too sure yet

Great job! Polyester glazing putty is easy to sand and would be great for perfecting the surface finish, or a coat of textured wrinkle paint would do the same job.

Looks good. Working with fiberglass is a pain in the *** but looks good when its done!

What did you use for the final coat ?
bondo or a mixture of fiberglass and bondo ?

Thanks guys... i would make more if i had the steering wheel trim.. Im getting the aeroforce wideband kit so i can hook up a sensor to my SW headers

this the legit Pod you guys are referring to:

I agree its the ****, i was going to get it but i don't have a need for a second gauge with the aeroforce
..............

The jelly resin i was using.. in the first and second picture.. must have bondo in it because it drys unlike any raw fiberglass i have even see..REMEMBER i had no idea what i was doing just going off what i have seen on tv....i could have made it perfect but i just didn't have the patience to sand it all the way down.. if i make another maybe ill pick up some Polyester glazing putty and try it out..

nice, only thing id recommend is using a heavy primer to fill in the little holes. It would really finish it off nice. Other then that is came out really nice. Ill be doing the same in my camaro but hanging off the top of the gauge cluster in the 2 blank spots.

Nice work.

Looks like that got sanded down a bit to fit the curve above the HVAC vent, right?
