Make sure to get an aftermarket warranty on the E55 unless you can prove previous maintenance records. Those stupid head gaskets...

glad i'm not the only one that is confused.

I was NOT intending for a CTSV (V2), the original post says 2006-2007 CTSV.

Other members brought the CTSV V2 into it. They are too much actually. I was not inteding to spend more than $35K but somehow many other cars got discussed, which is fine.

The V2 is really too much $$$ even though my last post still listed it as a (possible) option in the near future if I went hotrod-less for a while and saved.

So I guess it's E55 or LS3 C6 ... I have decided not to get an 06-07 CTSV (no offense).

Unless I want to wait a year and save for a CTSV (V2), by then they will be mid 40's I'm sure.

ok thanks for clearing it up, but the v2's are already in the mid 40's... that's why I'm confused.

best of luck, i'm sure you will like anything you get

Well, I feel like the ownership experience of the E55 will be unique. You will always find a nice C6 around for a good price.

I say play with the E55 for a bit then switch when necessary.

Kleeman K2 and call it a day. It pulls nice...

Thats my 2 cents

I didn't want to break the bank on the V2 either...I'm impressed they've held value like this. I bought my V1 (End 2005) exactly around this time frame since 09 V2 release (verse V1 04). My depreciation was like 14k or something from sticker.

Isn't the V2 priced 10k higher than the V1 was back in 04?

Mid 40's for a basic V....

Factoring TTL, easily 50.

Um, there is one in FL loaded for 42, I got mine 2months ago loaded for less then 50 out the door, and there are 10 v2's most loaded on cars.com for udner 50, and that's their asking price, not what you can get it for. If your really wanting a v2 at mid 40s I really think you could get one if you just called around and asked.

I'm in the same boat as JayplaySS. I'm trying to decide by May '11, between a 335i and an E55 AMG. I'm 80/20 right now, with the E55 as the front runner. Stage 2 pkg from EC Motorsports will put the Benz around 500-520rwhp/575rwtq for $4999. That's good for high tens/low 11s at 121-124mph. Lingenfelter had a full bolt-on headered/pullied V2 CTS-V at 124mph. That'd make a good run for an Stg 2 or stg 3 E55.

What's the repair cost of replacing head gaskets on a E55?

Between a V2 and E55 is easy, V2 hands down. Warranty.

You really might want to reconsider the 335i. I just picked my wife up an 08 Sport and the sucker is STRONG. Not to mention with a $99 plug and go computer mod (called a Juice Box) it will give you another 30 hp at the wheel with no other mods. Check out Burger Motorsports....they are the maker of the Juice Box.

There are 335i's that have the Juice Box, intake, and normal street tires (aka the owner ditched the stock run flats) running high 12's with no other mods. Besides the tires, a Juice Box and Intake can be had for under 500 bones!

also the 335i withteh TT motor you can get even more agressive "chip" style tuning. Inlcuding those with the "R" switch that puts them over 400whp.

My boy has one and with almost NOTHIGN done to it, its fast as ****. Ive seen others with DPs/Exhausts and vishnu or other tunes that, short grip, are low 12 second or high 11 cars.

But they are a bitch to repair. THey have the high preasure Fuel Pumps that fail and get noisy as **** over time.

In all BMW is a nice car but not my first choice.

I have been watching the V2 market for over a year and truely planned to wait until spring to pick one up. I bought one last month and enjoy it so much I don't care if they go down 10k by spring I write off the loss as enjoyment.

I'm hearing the same reponse from E55 owners. I'm hearing of the C63 AMG's potential as well, headers/tune going 11.4 @ 124mph

Jayplay,
Check out my V in Classifieds, less than 15K on 383ci, SC rebuilt 10K miles ago, no need for German shiat, mine will beat E55 from a roll. Always garaged, exterior and interior are very, very good.
Then again it may be more power than you are looking for.
