400-420 sounds about right to me.

if i where to put a guess on it, i would say right in the middle at 410.

I was curious though if you had a tune, as well? You may have mentioned it somewhere at sometime [a week off work sucks coming back on Monday, ha ha]

thats a HUGE spread in duration, ive never seen one that far apart for an LS1-2-6.

i will say this, the lift for intake and exhaust may be mild. but itsslow is right on, that is a really big duration spread. you will get a very loppy idle, and you have any major issue running that. but it will be a HUGE difference compared to the stock LS6 cam. you will need to let the car get to operating temps before really running it hard. and on really cold starts, you will have to baby the cars temp up. if it was me, i would got with something a little smaller, but thats up to you.

FYI, the stock LS6 cam specs (i think, anyone feel free to correct me) are:
204/218 int/exh at 0.05" duration
0.551" / 0.548" int/exh lift
117 LSA

so basically, you are adding 13 degrees on the intake and 21 on the exhaust. giving a duration spread from 14 to 22. there is nothing worng with going with a higher duration, but you may want to get them a little closer together. for mild cams, i would look at GM Hot Cam kits or Blower Cams kits.

GM Hot Cams 219/228 at 0.050" 0.525/0.525 112 LSA

Blower Cam Example 235/251 at 0.050" 0.621/0.624 115 LSA

Edit: Serik, what are the other specs on the cam that you are thinking about?

because you have to upgrade to a stiffer valvespring to handle the added lift of the cam. Until you get that warm oil lubricating the valve spings they can be pretty brittle so if you like to rev it to 6k when the valve springs are cold your more then likely gonna break one or more.

not to mention LSR lobes are one of the more harsh grinds on the valvetrain.

what he said.

whisler has a really meaty cam, i cant remember the duration specs. but i know his lift is somewhere around 0.650. and if i remember correctly, he has to wait a few minutes in order to romp the car for the reasons above.

technically you should waity till you get to operating temps on any car even stock, but even more so on modded cars.

i ussaully dont romp on my car till its been running for a while either way, any other cam that you guys can reccommend thats more valve train friendly cuz i hear from lsr lobes with after market springs need a replacment every 30k dont know how true that is, i want a good mild cam that can be blower friendly if i should decide to go that route, also im gussing when i do the cam it would be a good idea to go to double spring for safty? any other common things that shoulld be done on a ls6?

if you are located in Texas (near DFW or dont mind the drive) SNL Performance has a custom blower cam kit that they do. or you can go to any online LSx shop a buy a blower cam kit. which most with come with new springs and you can add in better values and rockers if you want.

SNL's number is 817-750-2000. i am pretty sure they will sell you their kit outright too.

call EPS(engine power systems) and have them custom grind you a cam. SUpposedly they are making sick power and there grinds are the easiest on the valvetrain. If I do another cammed car ill definetly be calling them. ALl my power right now is 4500 up but it pulls hard.

Contact Geoff at EPS for a camshaft. Lift like that and such an aggressive lobe will affect spring longevity.
