I have not seen it and it is quite obvious that it intercepts the VSS signal, fooling the head unit into thinking the vehicle is always going 0mph. I don't know what functionality this will impair off hand.. I assume all the mileage, average speed and other info is calculated at the PCM and merely displayed at the nav head.

FYI, not sure how similar the two are. On my Aurora, it had a navigation system very similar to the CTS's. Same goofy interface, etc, except it used CD-based maps (it was 2002 when it came out).
Some people would install these in 2001 Auroras that didn't have the VSS lead into the radio. If they didn't splice one it, what happened is the car doesn't move on the map. While GPS obviously tells it your position, it uses the vehicle speed to more accurately move you along (you can see the car move along through a tunnel too, if you've ever tried this). So the routing never worked properly.
Anyway, so that's a possible side effect. I assume you can flip that thing on and off, though? If you were watching a DVD, you couldn't be using the nav anyway.
