I think Crest Cadillac in Plano is pretty good. I know a forum member whos been there twice because of the retards that drive in North Dallas. And I have had mine there when another issue at 3am on New Years Day...

Yall might laugh, but Serivce King off of 35e and royal lane repaired my V after being ran into. Did a damn good job. They also give out free loaner cars.

I took it by some shops & they said "no way jose on PDR" & I tried talking to the adjuster about it AGAIN. He just reiterated take it to the shop, let them file a supplemental to get the money to do it right.

(Realization as I was typing this . . . )
I think they cut a lowball check hoping I'd just take it & not get the car repaired. The only way to get more money is to actually have the car repaired. Now it all kinda makes sense.

I've got an appointment with Sewell Cadillac Body Shop 5/16 to drop it off & get repaired & will let them deal with the insurance company about getting all the monies.

I went with Sewell because after talking to them, they'd make it like it was from the factory. Also, they could address some of the little things like one of the interior panels retaining tabs broke. They'll likely replace it because they'll have to remove the interior to replace the roof.

I figure I can just put on a custom hood later if I *STILL* want it. I can take care of the spoiler in the driveway. A spoiler very similar to the SS's.

Dropped the car off at Sewell yesterday & got a call from Sewell today. They've filed a supplemental with my insurance agency. The agency is going to come back to inspect or something.

Thus far, Sewell has said:
new hood
new roof
new passenger door skins
new trunk decklid
new right front fender
new unibody side panel (rear quarter to a pillar)

Minor PDR on the driver side with a few dents. There are a few dents on the driver side roof rail/rear quarter/front fender. I kinda hope they replace the left front fender so they have to repaint the driver side. There's a couple of very minor scuffs/scratches on that side I'd like to see disappear.

WOW! Did you get their estimate? My only fear would be that the insurance company totals the car.

I need to see if they email me a copy of their supplemental. There was a time I was hoping they'd total it, but if they do, I'd lose money to the tune of about $2k.

My car was in my dad's garage halfway through a clutch job when this hit.

Got lucky.

Updated estimate from Sewell. I took way to long to align this!

This is just the supplemental. So, some of the original estimate still applies, so the $13k here replaces SOME of the $6.1k of the original. Probably $15k+ easily.

FML some more, so insurance is saying after their response to the supplemental that the total is now around $11k. They're also saying that is around 70% of the value of the car. WTF? They think this car is only worth $15.7k?

I paid $23.7k. They're about $8k off. I'm not taking a bath for this car . . .

Keep fighting it. They're looking out for their own interest as a company, so you need to continue to look out for your own as a consumer.

Did you have GAP coverage?

According to KBB you paid about what its worth to a private seller.

FWIW I would actively see what the replacement cost of the vehicle would be and be able to show that to your insurance company. ^^ Relates it to KBB, but if you can show them that an equivalent car in mileage and condition is more expensive it is just something to add to your arsenal during negotiations. I had a 70's muscle car totaled and my insurance company (other driver was POS unisured) wanted to offer me 5.5K. Well almost one year later I got a check for approx. 15K . I was in a different situation since it was a classic and hired an automobile appraiser for approx $300-400 (I don't remember), and they inspected the car, came up with a value and wrote a report in which I sent to my insurance company. THEY WILL LOWBALL YOU! Good luck with your fight with the insurance company.

Stories like this make me hate the whole industry. It's essentially legalized crime. People like to bitch about being forced into buying health insurance, but whens the last time people realized that we are forced into the car insurance arena too? You shouldn't need additional GAP coverage to make up for whatever asshat undervalues your car. It should be the cost to replace. If you can get another version of your car, same miles, color, etc for 15k, it should be 15k. If it costs you 20k, it should be 20k.

/end rant.

Most banks use NADA retail values, don't know about insurance. I tried running a loaded CTS w/ 40k through NADA and came up with about 21k clean retail. They are probably assessing the value as a CTS. The same criteria on a V came out to $26k clean retail.

Quick Reply: Bought my dream car in a '06 CTS-V, but FML (She's home!)
