Never under estimate the power of electricity.
A friend had his battery fall over while he was autocrossing, his car died out on the course, and you saw smoke from the hood. The battery terminals were welding themselves to the inside of his fender.
One reason I try not to have to mess with anything electrical. That **** scares me!

also, it should be noted that my back tires are completely bald, and my front tires are like new. the drivers side tire is seeming to rub the inner fender (and the lip weld inside the inner fender), and even looks like it's running the upper part of my fender on hard bumps.
you think this could cause something like this to go on? it seems like my brake pedal is getting sorta crunchy, like when you press it in icy conditions.

Although I can't see inside (wrong camera angle), I'd be willing to bet that the headers melted through the individual signal wire insulation and shorted two of the wires together.
Can you pull the purple section out, or is it all fused together?
Also, what's the white/silver thing poking out?
