Oh that's right...I keep assuming since they made so few Vs that parts are hard to come by..but they made a bazillion grandma editions and the cowl is going to be standard fare correct?

For anyone running into this in the future: I had the exact same problem and tried just tightening the bolt. Don't do this, or at least don't get too excited. I broke the head straight off the bolt and had to order a new one. It's a bit tough to find for our exact car but I ended up getting this part number: 11561424

It did end up fitting. Put it in with some white lithium grease. Hopefully stops the noise.
