Default Help With Cam

I'm looking into 236/242 .592/.598 112 and am wondering if it will work with the stock heads, stock intake manifold, and stock exhaust manifold?

Any info is appreciated

If by stock heads you mean you are going to leave stock springs and push rods then no it wouldnt work. If you upgraded the springs and pushrods the yes the heads would work. However with the stock exhaust manifolds you are not going to see much of a gain with a cam. Would be better off getting some LT headers and a good tune.

I'm looking at a bunch of cams myself. My car is a daily and I intend to keep it one so I want something big enough that it sounds stout at idle but not too big to where the power is too far up top. Something with good torque and midrange would be most beneficial on this car. Might make a little lower peak numbers but the torque trade off would be worth it I think.

You'll be really choking that motor with a cam that big on stock exhaust manifolds. Heads and intake will be ok for now but you'll actually see better hp gains with a smaller cam and your current lack of headers. I'd go with a 226/234 personally I've seen a lot of California cars use it due to smog regulations.

I am also looking for a cam. My car is my DD too and I want something that is going to make good low to mid range power. The cam I have been the most interested in is the Torquer V3? Would this be a good cam to go with for an LS6 and what would be a good valve, valve spring, push rod setup to go with?

Sorry for thread jacking but didn't want to start a new thread about the same thing.

If you want to keep stock manifolds, look into Thunder Racing's cheater series. They made good power through 100% stock exhaust on fbodys in the past.
