Yea definetly sounds tune related to me. MAP sensor may need to be swapped out for a known working one just to eliminate that as a possibility.

A little bit annoyed right now. He spent over a half a day tuning it, and then when I left it starts throwing codes

how much is a MAP sensor?

I would check the hose that attaches to the rear of the intake manifold. You may have a vacuum leak by the MAP.

Yea if you have a vacuum leak it will fix the problem no doubt. You can take brake clean and spray it around the intake manifold while it is running and if the engine changes rpm or sound you found a leak.

Sounds tune related eh?
Please let me know what the conclusion is. My car runs terrible when idling with the a/c on, and throws a code also and runs rich. It also dies on me if I don't let the car search for the idle and find it.

will do..... Just dropped it off again today. The code stayed on this time so hopefully we can fix that and that will be the culprit.

Is ur car tuned?

LS3 heads are a direct fit on LS2 lower's. U just need stuff like the LS3 intake fuel rails and a few other things. They are supposed to pull lots of power with a small cam throughout a very wide range of RPM's

I work for valley center fire...... small world

and btw, I picked it up again. He said the light went on right after he started it up. He Talked to a couple other tuners that have done V's and a few of them said that my car needs to learn the new cam. He said just drive it around. I picked it up and it was way better than before. No engine light either this time. He didnt do anything to it except just test drive it and see what it was doing

Yeah car is tuned the tuner wants to see it to try to diagnose just haven't had time. The check engine light only comes at idel once I start driving it goes away.

I was under the impression that after tuning the car, that eliminates any "learning" the car has to do. I had my car tuned by Cunningham Motorpsorts in Temecula after I did my cam and had no issues. Drivability was spot on, no CEL, etc. If you continue to have issues, it might be worth getting the tune checked by a second opinion.

Took it in for that second opinion. Luckily the code was on when I got there. Says something about the MAP sensor and bank 1 and 2 running lean. The guy did a quick check with some spray to check for vacuum leaks and found nothing.

Im thinking it might be the MAP sensor going bad. I hope. It runs wonderfully when the code isnt on

Nope...
Especially for idle, Base Running Airflow tables for measured airflow affects idle huge... there are limits set as well, usually +- 3g/sec, if you max this out, then the car goes to pulling timing to bring idle up or down to commanded idle. having the computer learn is usually too late in idle conditions.
And you have to remember, STITs take time to respond, idle must be dialed in otherwise, your ECM is hunting everytime you start it... also with throttle cracker and follower (when you let off the pedal to slow down for example).

Cam swaps = crap idle is simply exposing the crappy or inexperienced tuners.

another true test if the ECM has been properly calibrated for the cam is to un-plug the battery for some time... then check how it cold starts / warms up/ eventually to CL.

MAP sensors don't usually 'go bad'.
Thrown CEL could be due to stalling and falling off MAP set thresholds, but doesn't necessarily mean the MAP sensor is bad.
What are the codes? Would be better to see the hpt and log files in this case...(or whichever means was tuned in)
