Default How do I prevent power steering fluid from boiling over

So after a heavy day of auto-x (an Evolution school... highly recommended) I noticed that the power steering fluid had boiled over at the end.

What is the best power steering fluid to run to help prevent this?

What cooler is anyone using? I see that the one in the FAQ is no longer available, is there another out there that fits as well?

I assume you did this:

http://www.google.com/#hl=en&sugexp=...w=1262&bih=533

Then saw this:

http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/answe...ler/index.html

If you go to summitracing.com and put in the part number for the Fluidyne cooler, it's unavailable, and they have a replacement part number.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLD-FHP-10026/

FLD-FHP-10026 Replaced with: FLD-FHP-10029

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLD-FHP-10029/

According to the measurements listed on Summit it's 2 inches taller and 4 inches longer, but the same depth.

Not sure if the bracket would still line up or not, but I would assume if not you could just drill out the holes since you're already going to have it out to remove the rivets from the stock cooler.

Otherwise maybe give Fluidyne a call in the morning and see if they have a similar product to the one you were looking for, as far as dimension sizes.

http://www.racerwheel.com/flu-fhp10026.html

Listed on this website at $26:
http://www.revlinecustoms.com/products.asp?pg=357

On a Sport Compact website, also $26:
http://www.sportcompactonly.com/part_p-19850.htm

Hope some of this helps maybe?

Royal Purple makes a good quality Power Steering fluid, and most of their other products are usually highly recommended.

I installed the FHP-10026 in Aug 2008 before tracking my 2004 V
I've had no issues with power steering boil over
I'm also using Motul too

Thanks guys, your search outside of summitracing worked much better then mine...

looks like shipping is like $25 at the sport compact website, but $50 for a cooler I know I can make work easily does not seem bad (and inline/cheaper then ones I would have to do extra work on)

For those considering the larger filter

I finally found a picture of the larger cooler on ebay, it looks the same as the FHP-10026, only larger:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/FLUIDYNE-9-P...item43aa39ad00

I am glad it has the same layout at least. I think that 18" long is just going to be way too big for a power steering cooler... it would extend over behind the horns, I would have to see how strong that stock bracket is with that large of a filter. It would be do-able, but I think more effort then it is worth for negligible gains

Thanks, again
