And 275/40-18 will fit in the front with all else stock?

What about on TD 9" wheels? Can this fit up front? I know there's a thread but all I saw was 275/35 all the way around.

Correct!

SStriker posted pictures of this setup...check them out.

Yes, 275/40-18 fit up front with everything stock. But I must say having the wide tires feels a little soft up front in the turns. I love the look but I would prefer 255 up front.

TD 9" wheels fit fine on all corners. There are plenty of guys running them.

Thanks for confirming the front tire clearance on stock wheels.

I know the td wheels fit, but I couldn't find anyone with 275/40 in the front on them and on stock suspension. I wondered if the different offset would affect the wider tire fit.

275/40 up front??? Just me but I wouldn't unless I had a fwd car that needed wide tires in the front. For straight line traction.

Really? You have obviously never heard of autocross.

I had my FWD cobalt with 420 lbs/trq at the wheels at the AAA speedway roval in Fontana. It just seems like that tire is a bit large for a stock wheel. seems like it would pinch a bit, but hey to each his own. I'd run it on a wider wheel but not on the stock wheels. Most 275s I have researched call for a spec of a minimum 9 inch wide wheel. Yes I have heard of autocross, and road racing, I just don't want to run tires/wheels that aren't matched together well is all. A half inch isn't much but at 160mph around a banked oval pulling a decent lateral g load... I'd rather go up a little in wheel width or down in tire width for piece of mind. And since the title is 'stock rim wide tire' I just threw in my .002 so its up to people to take it for what they will.

And I ran a set of 275 DRs on 8 inch wheels on the cobalt for 1/8 and 1/4 drags a few times... but I wouldn't run it around corners on the road course here with the wheels I had, in my opinion they were too wide for the wheels on that car.

Right. Which is why I'm asking about them on the front, on Team Dynamics 9" wide wheels. I saw one person confirm that 275/35 works on that wheel up front but I want to know if 275/40 fit since they are the right diameter and cheaper.

I've always read that Nittos tend to run small.

I would agree with this after seeing them mounted on mine.

Most 275s have a suggested rim width of 9-11". I have run some on an 8, but that is as narrow as I would go. Your original statement was about the tire on the front of a V, so that is why I responded the way I did.

This and this. They look small on the front of mine.

Default 275's

275'S are max. I put 285's on and they did NOT rub,, but because they were tooooo wide for my stock set up.. I twice almost totaled my Caddy doing some spirited hwy. driving.. U can easily lose the stability in the rear and u will have hardly any control like when going in and out of traffic at speeds excess of 80mph or even slower...It's an accident waiting to happen...I have the crappy Map bars and they fit, but much too wide a tire on a stock rim ..I got my stock rims widened and my 285's are great ..The rims now are 9-7/8" wide inside lip to inside lip....I put the psi down to about 18lbs on my stock setup with FG2's and Eibach's and it was much better BUT still an accident waiting to happen..Again u can NOT safely run 285's on stock rim..save your $$ and your life.

Yea I understand what you were saying... I should have been more clear in my first post, apologies. I should have explained it more like: 275 seems like it would rub on the from under heavy cornering loads without a proper offset. I ran them on the cobalt because I needed the traction on the dragstrip even though they did rub at full lock. Hopefully that makes more sense this time.

It works but can't be lowered. I run 275/40 all around after finding a closeout deal on conti dw.

Just wanted to hear from others on the rubbing issue during cornering on the spindle/upper front ball joint with 275/40/18 nitto 555's on a stock rim. I have 255/40/18 pirelli pzero's on the stockers now and I can barely fit my index finger in between the tire and suspension.I'm about to pull the trigger on new meat all the way around and don't want to make a mistake. My fenders are rolled on all four corners. Out back it shouldn't be a problem but up front is what I'm worried about. Thanks

I have the 275/35/18's Nittos up front, stock height, stock rims, no fender rolling and no rubbing at all. Can't confirm the 275/40/18. It would be tight.

TRUE....285's...I have the MAP CRAP trl. arms and had my stock rims widened to 9 7/8th's and can only safely get a 285/40/18. If i remember I was 8mm shy, which is a lot for a 295...tire will hit steel frame and stablizer bar mount. good luck....
