LG Motorsports G5X1 cam
Im in the market for a cam like asap. ive been looking around and i think the G5X1 cam from LG is the best way to go. im currently in the dallas area temporarily and i took the hike down to see them and they said that with the cam, tune and a fast intake id be making 460ish to the wheels. does that sound right? if so, im sold. the kit costs around $1500.00 with the timing chain, cam, push rods etc.. so let me know what yall think. im trying to do this pretty soon so chime in.

i think you should probably get heads as well, then i think 460 might be attainable.

I think you'll have to go with a bigger cam for that power. When I was ordering my setup (texasspeed MS3, PRC stage 2.5 ls6 heads), the guy i talked to on the phone said 460's for my car, and my cam is a lot larger than yours.

Id call EPS(engine power systems) and get them to grind a 230/238 112lsa cam. That with a fast will get you around 440rwhp. Just keep in mind the fast intakes are only available in 102mm now and youll need new injectors and rails. Youll be in a cam/fast/tune for 3k+. Id save and go forced induction. I highly highly doubt youll see 460 with LG's cam and a fast, like said above youll need heads as well.

and babrown on lg's website they have a couple dyno's with the g5x1 fast and full exhaust makeing 450whp...of course thats in a c6 so it would be a little less with our drive train loss...but the g5x1 is a decent cam for boosting from what they said when i was asking about cams before i bought my x3...

Couldn't agree with you more Hopefully him and I can set something up cause if it wasn't for the labor everyone would start with heads and cam...taking the heads out scares me (leaks and such with my luck afterwards) so think I'm just gonna stick to the cam...

The first thing you need to decide when purchasing the cam is how you want it to drive and idle. If you do not want cam surge, then go with LG's executive cam and FAST Intake, NW TB set-up. If you want a more aggressive idle and do not mind a little cam surge, then get the G5X2 or G5X3. Those are proven cams (All of LG's are great cams and make power). Decide where you want to make power - Up top or down low - I would suggest getting the grind on a 112 LSA, but they can also grind them on 114 LSA. Depends where you normally want to be in the RPM range. Torque is the key, as that is what you are going to "feel". HP keeps you going. If you are considering heads, go with Tony Mamo, along with the LG set-up. Proven combination - How do I know - I have had multiple cars made by them.
I hope that this helps. LG Motorsports is a great shop. Tony Mamo is the king of airflow for heads. It is important to match you set-up so you get the optimal power.
