Default Short throw shifter thread....

No i didnt search and i don't care to so hit the back button if u dont want to read it. Lol!

3 aftermarket shifters they make for our cars are...

-katech
-UUC
-B&M
-And then of course the modded stock shifter.

Any advantage to one over the other? I know the modded stocker is popular for the money but i think id like to just buy an aftermarket one this time and drop it in.

Just wanna know if there are any advantages or disadvantages to one over the other such as shorter shifts, better feel, etc.

Lmk fellas...

I have the Katech shifter with the UUC shifter bushings and love it. I would have no problem recommending this setup to anyone.

I've been thinking about which shifter to go with and I may try this setup.

But Taylor is a noob...he sold his V and bought another V. 04 to 05...wow talk about retarded, haha.

For your question Taylor...I have a Katach with UUC bushings and its great. But in all reality, anything is an improvement. If you want to spend $400 get the UUC. If you want to spend $250 get the Katach. If you want to spend around $100, get the PISNUOFF or azn2dmax shifters. It will all come down to what you want to spend to get a better shifter.

Haha! Eat my **** noob haters!

Cole, I'm supposed to pick up a new Katech shifter and new CS shifter bushings tomorrow from a local guy for $200. Just installed a stock modded shifter in my old car that my boy bought and it felt good. My question is... Why is the UUC so much more than the Katech? Shorter throw or what? Seems silly to spend $400 on basically the same thing unless there is a substantial advantage to be had.

What about B&M? Hear it's a good piece but never seen or shifted one.

Almost tempted to mod my sticker and save the money. And as far as the 04-05 move... I wanted something with a built rear, fat cam and that makes good numbers. The 550/553 dyno result sold me on it! Oh... And it doesn't have a truck motor. Another big benefit! Haha put an LS6 in that thing man and it'll sell! lol

As far as the cost, I really don't know why the UUC is $400. All the short shifters on the market offer the same thing. I don't really know if one is better then the other, but one thing everyone can agree on is that it's better then the stocker. But since you are getting a Katech with the bushings for $200, I would just go with that.

IIRC, Allen had a B&M in his V (so to speak). And he had no complaints about the shifter. Its just like the rest, its an improvement over the stock one. And thats the most important part. You will be very happy with the Katech. But I am betting you won't feel much of a difference bewtween the stock mod shift you had in your first V and the Katch in the new V.

haha...and you are such a dick Taylor. I love my truck motor....just wish I could have sold it. But since the only real diffence between an 04-05 with 50k miles and an 07 with 50k miles is radio buttom and a different number after the LS. I was down to asking $24k for mine, but most stock-ish 04-05 with similar miles and mods where going for 18 to 20. Ooo well...looks like I will throw it in storage while I am overseas...and try again when I get home and move on to my C6 Z06.

Hahaha! You know I'm playin man. I was looking at whistler's old car as I mentioned in my other thread. It was an 07 with nice mods for $22k. Was about to jump on it but someone else snagged it before I made up my mind and my buddy lowered the price on his making it a better deal. And with the rear built already, I never have to worry about breaking it which is comforting. Lol you're car is priced right man. Like u said, considering what u can get an 04/05 for compared to an 07, with the minor differences between them, most folks would rather save the money but someone will buy it. It's clean!! Oh... And trade me my wheels for those accessory wheels! Lol

And I get what ur sayin. Anything I go with will be a huge improvement over stock. I guess I'll snag that local Katech with the bushings today. Only thing that sucks about that is that I prob won't feel a difference between it and the stock modded one like u said and like shady said, it's leaves me limited on **** options which kinda sucks.

It's ok Cole, in the next year or so it'll be very difficult to secure a loan on a car older than 06. When I bought my 04 a year ago it was the oldest I could go, and it couldn't be purchased from a dealer, private seller only... not sure what the reason was but it made sense at the time.

I hate banks...haha.

The only reason I went 07 was it was the only way I could do a 6 year loan. Planned on minimized payment to save some while I was in Afghanistan and pay off my truck and then dump money into the V's note. But the mod bug bit me (while 8800 miles from the car) and I spent a little under 5000 grand before I even drove the car...haha.

Now I am going to just dump money into the note while I am in Kuwait and sell for about $20k-22k when I get home in October.

Save your money, all the shifters for the car suck. Its the linkage that kills the feel and not one shifter truly improves on that. I ran the B&M and UUC bushings, and for the money and pain in the *** it was to install i wouldnt do it again.

Just my .02 without the sugar coating.

So in other words, I should just keep the stock donkey dick soup stirring shifter? Lol or just avoid wasting money on an aftermarket one and mod my stocker? The stock modded one in my old car is def a big improvement over stock. Not perfect but it's not a mile long between gears anymore lol
