From this link: http://www.lingenfelter.com/LPEforum...LS2-LS6-or-LS1

"The LS9 camshaft is a 3 bolt design and will use the Lingenfelter 3 bolt cam conversion kit if you are installing it in a single bolt application like the 2007 – 2010 LS2 or LS3. If you are installing it in an earlier LS1 or LS6 engine with the cam sensor at the back of the engine you will need a 2005 LS2 front cover, 2005 1x cam sprocket, camshaft extension harness, 2005 LS2 chain dampner."

It isn't that you couldn't make it work but for me all the additional crap made it a no go. I'd rather get a more aggressive cam anyhow if I'm going to toss the fairly boost friendly LS6 cam.
ahh good info and I think from this info I'm going to take the ls9 cam off my list. Thank you

im running the ls9 cam in my ls6. love it..drivabilty is awesome and has a slight lope at idle.. i had to get a ls2 front cover, timing gear, and a 25 dollar harness. all in all i pauid less for everything than buying a cam from COMP or anyone else. i also put brand new ls9 springs on my stock heads and its perfect

As it should...it is as close to the stock '02+ GM LS6 cam as they can be while still having a "tangible" (for lack of a better word) product.

No cam is designed for one rocker arm over another (discounting ramp rates, of course). All you have to do is divide the advertised gross lift by the rocker arm ratio to get the lobe lift.

Example:
LS7 with 1.8 rocker arms....211*/230* .591"/.591" 120 LSA Divide 591/1.8 = .328" lobe lift

LS9 with 1.7 rocker arms....211*/230* .558"/.552" 122.5 LSA Divide 558/1.7 = .328" lobe lift (intake) 552/1.7 = .324" lobe lift (exhaust)

The .004" lift difference between the two will never be noticed...the -2.5* LSA might make a very slight difference though.

The LS9 is $98 at my local dealer, and I think the LS2 front cover is in the $80 range and includes a new cam sensor and crank seal ($30 each separately). I think the TBSS LS2 cam gear is $30? Extend the cam sensor wires (three of them) and you're done for much less than an aftermarket cam. From what I understand, the smaller the motor, the better the LS9 cam works. One guy running a junkyard 200k mile turbo 5.3 (with two complete different cast # heads) picked up over 75 hp at the wheels over an LS6 cam. He runs 9's BTW....

Np. Like punishment said its still a bit cheaper but it got close enough too the cost of a speced cam that I moved on.

Yeah I'm not saying it isn't "do-able" but considering the added cost and then the specs of the cam I decided that it was out for me. I wish it were just the $100 cam and I'd have one in now!

BTW do you have any idle videos? I know your motor is just getting back together but I'd like to hear the "slight lope". That is one of the factors that had me going another direction from the LS9. (lack of lope among other things).

One more thing. I really like the idea of stock LS9 springs, doesn't get much better of a pairing than a cam and springs the OEM matched up! Thanks.

Instead of making a new thread of questions I have.

I already have Tr6's. Do I run stock plugs?

Stock gap is fine. 0.35 I think off top of my head. TR6s are perfect for a maggie.
