Default My 04 V build thread. Suggestions welcome!

Since I see alot of this going, I'll go ahead and make one of my own.

As a few know from my intro post, I bought a wrecked 04 V. 61k, Black on Tan. It has a few upgrades and mods.

Mod list:

B&B long tubes
B&B full exhaust with X pipe
Coil overs
Hotchkis sway bars
SS brake hoses
LPE CAI
4th Gen diff

I paid $7,000 for the car. It has damage, none really heavy, but it's kind of all over. (It was the guardrail car...)

So far, I've gathered up:

New GM bumper cover
New GM lower grille
OEM LH headlight (used)
Aftermarket upper grille (for now, will use GM later)
Radiator

What I still need to gather up:

Lower valance for bumper cover
LH inner fender (front and back section)
LH T/S lense (side of bumper)

What I've done so far with the car:

Boy howdy... The PCM drug the ground after getting knocked off the car. That was a neat trick. So, I bought the Micro 100 crimper, and 50 connector pins. Got on Mitchell, got the diagrams, and went to town. Re-pinned about 35 pins. Now, it runs. Fired right up.

Tore the LF fender off, to find very little damage beneath. Happy about this one.. The LF apron is twisted just a little, but no damage to the actual structure of the car! WOOHOO!

Thoughts so far... Parts are a little more expensive than I thought, but I'm only going to use GM parts. I refuse to use Sorta-fit parts on the car.

If anyone can help out sourcing body panels, I'd really appreciate it. I've eBay'd, googled, and everything. I've searched local, and have found anything but new. I'd like to somewhat stay on a budget with it IE: used fender, hood, and some of the little stuff.

I'll keep updating as I go. Thanks for looking, and I appreciate any input that y'all have to give!

- James

Yup, Been to the local boneyards. Nothing that new, and if they did have it, it all got fucked by the hail we had a couple weeks ago.

Also consider some base cts parts may be the same as the v. The hood is one that stands out to me.

One more thing a lot of people just did an extreme composites hood buy so I would assume most of them will be willing to sell their old hoods.

Yeah, I knew about the base part.

I guess a question that I'd like answered is about the Fog/Turn signal. Will that work from a base model?

Awesome. I appreciate the help so far! I'll buy a bracket then use the STS lights. I think the clear lights will look better.

St Louis SHO, where are you located?

Contemporary Corvette in Bristol Pa is a good source for parts. Give them a call.

Damn. Got most of the parts here. Mocked it all up, got the sheet metal fitted.

Shitty pic, but you get the idea.

All I need to aquire is the lower valance, LH inner fender (both parts) brake duct, corner lense, and a license plate bracket.

I picked up a TSP MS3 for it with springs, swapping my LS6 cam for it and $100. So, before I even get to drive it itll be pretty lumpy.

Well, this hasn't been updated in a while...

I ended up sending the car out to CBI Street Cars to get the oil pan replaced (I've been to busy to touch it) That's where things went horribly wrong. lol! I ended up having Chad put a TSP Torquer V3, PRC springs, pushrods, retainers, Melling HV oil pump, some fancy timing chain, etc in it. I still havent driven it..

I also picked up 2 doors for it, and it goes into the body shop the 16th for paint and final assembly. Once thats done, it gets a tune, and its ready to drive. I'm getting pretty excited!

Great project! I wish I would have gone this route, I put my V into a guard rail about 2 years ago, the damage wasn't that bad and the shop bill was still $14.5k! The insurance adjuster said I got off easy, these cars are expensive as **** to fix with you do any body damage.

If you're still looking for parts I've had good luck with this site, you put in a request and they send it off to a bunch of auto salvage yards around the country: http://www.usedpartscentral.com/

Here are two pics from my damage:

Well, It's been back together for a little bit. Had it tuned by DSX Tuning, runs great with the new cam and stuff. The bodywork turned out excellent. I love this car!

Looks great. If you still need a front plate bracket, I can sell you mine for $20 shipped.
