Default Alternator Life

I know there are a couple other high mileage V's on here.
I'm trying to figure out the life expectancy of an alternator on these.

My previous car (99 Blazer) had the alternator die at about 105k.. right after I added a 400watt sub amp. I've got a similarly powered amp on my replacement rear deck sub in this car too, but have it scaled way down to avoid bottoming out this free-air sub.

Right now I've got the heads off of the engine and am looking right at an alternator that is otherwise buried. Thinking at 104k it might be time to get proactive on it. I'd hate to have to tear into this engine bay again so soon after putting it all back together.

How long has your alternator lasted? Post up even if yours is going strong.

It all depends on how you treat it... good battery, no high stress loads like a strong stereo system, etc... should last a while longer. I'd leave it alone

Mine made it to 55k then started screaming. Glad I bought a CPO.
