I just looked at my V and just noticed that the sunroom dial bezel is already black. Duh! I was asking you how you painted it so perfect, haha

Got the trim from McMaster Carr.

My dial was tan so I did paint it.

Do you have a part# for the trim?

The round bezel looks stock to me. It is a lighter shade of black. I am refering to the round bezel that surrounds the ****.

Oh gotcha, you mean the piece with the writing on it, yeah that's stock haha. Wish I had those kind of skills!

Let me track down part number.

Okay part number is 8507K67 and I ordered 10 ft of it at $1.50 per foot.

Here is the link: http://www.mcmaster.com/#trim-molding/=irezb7

It's the last one under rubber edge trim style 5, was a perfect fit and perfect length!

Awesome! Thank you for taking the time to help us out so that we possibly don't run into any issues or delays doing this mod.

Did you use a hand held roller to lay down the material? When I think of a roller, I think of the tool you would use to put on DynaMat.

I went to the website you posted to source the material. Can you tell me what size kit you purchased? http://www.yourautotrim.com/suheki1.html

I just used my hand no roller required for the suede! Looking through all my receipts it looks like I actually went through 5 yards of the 60" fabric (had some left over). Keep in mind this included my entire trunk so I would say you would be fine with 3 yards (108") of the 60" wide fabric. I didn't acutally buy the kit because I bought my glue from Lowe's, it's quite a bit cheaper if you just buy the fabric from them then pick up a few cans of glue from lowe's IMO.

Here is link to their bulk headliner fabric: http://www.yourautotrim.com/suheobl.html

Also you can order a sample card from them to see and feel the fabric before you purchase for $1.50: http://www.yourautotrim.com/pusuhech.html

Default Sunroof shade

I am in the process of recovering the headliner and have become stuck on trying to remove the sunroof shade to reupholster it. How do you take the shade out? The pillar post covers and headliner are already out.

Is that black or the charcoal from that company? How close to the seat color is the match?

Please be aware that the product advertised by that site, while adequate for most uses, is not as durable (by a factor of 10, as it turns out) as alcantara. Padded alcantara costs about $105 per yard. It should not fade in applications exposed to UV, unlike microsuede.

There's no data available. Personally, if I were going to go through all of the trouble of doing this mod, I wouldn't want to worry about whether my dash were pointing into the sun or not.

So glad I have the stock black interior. This seems like one of those mods that's awesome for 6-12 months.

Out seat inserts are made from microsuede. I do not see them fading like you state.

No. But when I bought the couch for my home theater, I was able to examine various types of suede, and found that the difference in look and feel between quality suede and cheap suede was remarkable.

I'm not trying to crap on anybody's work here. It seems to me that the real expense here is the time necessary to disassemble the interior and apply the material. So while quality material is ten times as expensive, the cost delta is not significant. And since you're in such intimate contact with the material when you're driving the car, the added cost is doubly worth it.
