Default Think I need new motor mounts?

I had some of the firstr CS mounts and was one of the first to mention sizzling of them from headers.

I wrapped them with heat tape after that pic, and that saved them for awhile. Had them in for about 3 yrs. CS did send me new ones with heat sheilds, but due to lazyness never installed them. After awhile I noticed my oil pan was resting right on my swaybar, and as of this summer when I took left turns the header would rub on the steering shaft.
Here's what they looked like compared to new ones.

I'll give them this much, even though they are over an 1" shorter now and busted apart, they never did seperate, or cause the engine to clunk up and down(like the stockers did).
I installed these homemade ones instead

I now have a brand new set of creative steel ultra mounts black with heat shields, 150.00 shipped if anyone is interested.
Max said they are updated since the ones I had.

Those creative steel mounts are the very reason im glad i went with my solid UMI's on this car! Although i will say the added vibration and rigid feel in the car does suck since this is supposed to be a classy and quiet ride, i prefer to know that my mounts are 100% solid and guaranteed not to fail due to heat or age. If dealing with a little added vibration is the consequence, i'd rather do that than be swapping poly mounts every 6 months.

In retrospect, my car is far from luxury anymore with the cam, exhaust, etc anyway so the mounts themselves really didn't change much in the noise aspect. There is a noticeable difference in vibration (as with any solid mount) between these and the CS poly mounts i had in my old car but the trade off is worth it IMO.

Yeah the vibration of my solid set up I don't even notice, can't be any worse than the oil pan resting on the swaybar anyway.
When i got the CS mounts there were only 2 options, CS or UUC

I'm probably going to go with RevShift mounts, unless those UMI guys decide to offer a version of their mount with a slightly softer bushing material. I should PM Ryan @ UMI and ask him what hardness poly they're presently using.

The material in mine set up is actually teflon, hitting it with a torch doesn't even do anything to it, but it's probably more rigid than poly. The teflon is .0010" press fit into the sleeve, and the bushing is .005" into the teflon, so it should never hammer out.

My mounts have a minimal amount of give. They are solid but the poly bushing in the center isn't as solid as say an aluminum or steel bushing obviously would be. But... They are night and day firmer than the poly CS black mounts i had in my old car.

Shoulda listed them a month ago.

Tbh if you made those mounts there and sold them, I bet you'd have buyers.

FWIW, max said that he changed some the compounds he was using a while back because the softer compounds were having melting issues. I really didnt want a lot if vibration, so he made me a custom set with a durometer somewhere between the "soft as stock" that he quit making and the harder durometer he sells now. I got crafty and made some custom heat shields out of that starter wrap stuff. They still look brand new after two years. I don't have headers though, which is a big part of the melting issue.

Right. That makes a HUGE difference. Proximity and higher heat, because stainless doesn't insulate as well as cast iron. Not to mention the fact that 5h3 kind of person that installs headers is likely to have other mods and drive harder than someone without.

is this true of all CS mounts? the melting? I have kooks and was about to purchase a set of CS mounts(engine/trans/diff bushing and block)..... But I dont want to do the engine mounts if this is "common".

I have revshift mounts and wrapped the mounts in heat shield tape as well as have my headers coated then wrapped and then sprayed with the DEI silicon spray. I also threw some heat tape around the starter while I was at it.

I love the revshift mounts but have considered the solid mount approach just for piece of mind, something about these rubber mounts makes me uneasy.

I have coated Kooks and would have the CS mounts with heatshields. Would that be enough?

I think that if the mounts are shielded well enough they should be fine. I've got 3 types of heat shielding on my mounts along with wrap on the headers themselves.

My mounts are wrapped with left over header wrap, utilizing the CS and stock heat shields stacked.
