Default Battery change to an optima redtop weight added 5 pounds

Stock ac delco battery went south after 6 years service, took pictures of the weight differences between stock and optima group 78 redtop. Had to use a group 65 plastic wing adapter on the firewall side to position the battery closer to the hold down and cut part of the stock battery hold down to get it really secured to the car.

I didn't have to cut anything on mine. Dropped right in. And 5 lbs heavier or not, I'd take the Redtop as my first choice.

I cut one corner off the hold down so it would fit around the middle cylinder so it sits between the middle and right cylinder as you see it from the front of the car. Right in between the cylinders that have stickers in that scale picture.

I junked my Optimas and got a better battery.

The quality of the Optimas has gone way downhill.

I agree see what happens; I was planning to order the odyssey beast pc1500 big brother(50 pounds group78) to your light weight battery but I needed the car running asap and advanced auto had a decent coupon.

Nice battery! I'd go to that if my optima gave me any issues but it's going strong and also has a pretty good warranty. Not to mention if it's out of warranty and goes bad, I have a buddy that will still swap it no questions asked so I'm not too worried about it.

I had a similar experience with my last car. The new owner has also had to replace it in the last year.

braille is listed on their website for 299.99. Looks like a bad as battery and a good way to remove 20lbs from the car but damn thats expensive, plut 85 for the stainless bracket.

Yeah... Battery is a battery to me. It is nice but at the end of the day, they all do the same thing and even the standard batteries have a good warranty. Only reason i have my optima is because i got it on my buddies O'Reillys discount for cheap and it's pretty much lifetime warranty for me with my connection so why not. Spending $400 on a battery and mount is retarded IMO.

Your buddy is going to be working at O'Reillys for life?

Highly unlikely but the price I paid was well worth it anyway. Lol

B3121C like mine with carbon fiber was $285 @ Summit Racing. I ended up having a shitload of Summit Bucks (found by the guy on the order line) so it ended up getting discounted a lot.
The cheaper alternative, a regular 3121 is around $178
The big dog ML30C weighing at less that 10lbs is the micro lite lithium but its like 2k

My main reason for it was to cut weight down. Running in NASA its all about a power-to-weight ratio

Well with that price it makes total sense. And the 20lb loss is a minor advantage but the full price is just ridiculous for a battery. Then again... I've spent a lot of money on stupid stuff over the years... Lol

What's up on those seats junior??

20lbs here and there certainly adds up. What is the warranty on the braille batteries?
