Engine Temp Question
Hey guys, I bought my 04 V about three weeks ago and noticed the motor runs hotter and stays hotter than my previous owned cars. Is this normal? All my previous cars were imports: 2 G35s a coupe and sedan, and an accord. While rolling the car is at about 200 degrees, if its sitting it can rise all the way to 230. Also when at a cold start the temperature can climb pretty quickly. Just wanted some input, the car runs fine and the needle doesn't climb over the half way point.

Stock thermostat is liek 192 I believe so those temps are about right. If your concerned youc an throw a 160-180 thermostat in it but youll have to get the fan settign tuned to come on earlier. LSX motors prefer to run a little on the warmer side which is why I dont recommend the 160.

I have a stock tstat as well and the hottest ive ever seen is 212 on my car and it was 104* outside at idle. normal for me is about 190-205. I think the engine light already goes off around 240ish man. Either way 230 seems a bit too extreme

sounds pretty normal for stock. watch out for a crazy fluctuation in oil temp. its most commonly a bad ground which throws the sensor
with a 160 tstat my motor's operating temp is 195, water temp 179, never goes above 205, i live in FL so it is always hot.. I have talked to alot of LS tunners at dyno days around here and most say that 160 is perfect for LS motors in hot climates
