Default Katech Shifter 5/8-18

I have been looking for a weighted shift **** for a while. TWM ***** are legit but way to much $$ and all i wanted was the Abrams one.. i found these the other day, I ordered a brass and a steel ****. it was cheap, $19 for both, just missed free shipping. I'll let you know if they are worth the $

Looks good, makes a nice difference when driving too depending on the weight there. I will say however that the washer works just as well when its on the underside of the boot.

I just ordered a brass one. I will be covering it in alcantara/ultrasuede type material and sliding the collar of the boot down so that the shifter is exposed.

I tried to do this with mine, it does look good. You may want to look into a fitting that can be screwed into the threaded section of the ball so you can stop it where you want without it being able to turn on you. If you just use the katech hardware you will end up having that massive jam nut sitting up for all to see; then again if you don't mind that no worries.

I take it that these only work if your shifter is threaded?

Shady after a couple days of going back and forth with JWWINCO I was able to get them to agree to make a **** for me in steel same 1lb weight with my m12x1.25 pattern. Unfortunately it is going to run me $25 for the custom tapping and one of piece they need to make. It is a much better price than going with the abram though so, I am excited. I will post up pics when I get it installed.

I am looking at the steel one and possibly painting it . Question I have is how bad does the heat transfer through the shifter ball? How hot does it get?

I had an exposed TWM weighted ball in my last car... Heat transfer wasn't the problem for me... It was the sun shining on the damn thing through the window when it was parked lol... It would get hot from that. It really wasn't bad though. It also got cold in the winter when the ambient temps dropped. The V shifter doesn't go straight into the transmission case like an f-body. There is an extended linkage apparently. So like my last car, transmission heat isn't really going to effectively transfer like it would if you had the stick coming right out of the trans.

Hey shady, is the thread and pitch the same on the stock shifter as it is on your Katech short throw? I kinda like the look of that brass testsicle you shift with... I want to rub one as well lolol... Seriously though it looks pretty sweet, I want one.
