Default Super Strong Seatbelt Spring?

Hey,

I've been using a CG Lock on my driver's side seatbelt for about two years now, so I don't know why it's taken me this long to ask:

Has anyone ever opened up the seatbelt retraction mechanism and tried installing a stronger spring (or whatever they use) in there? A CG Lock is too heavy for the stock mechanism, and won't retract.

Maybe yours is worn? I've had a cg lock hanging on for years, and no issues retracting.

I actually have this same issue, minus the CG lock but it's only on my passenger side. It will retract if you lift and feed it back into the seat. I took the back of the seat off, but still wasn't able to see any part of the seatbelt spring or mechanism.

Any idea what I can do to get the seatbelt to retract on its own?

I'm pretty sure seat belts are covered under warranty for the life of the car. This is assuming that it hasn't been wrecked and the pretensioners have blown. Call the dealer and get new ones for free.

Hmm, I wasn't aware of that. I will have to call the stealership and see what they say.

Also, is there any way to check to see if the pretensioners on the seats have blown without getting it scanned with Tech II? I swapped out my tan interior for black, and once I did I now get the service airbag light which from my understanding could be caused by the seatbelt tensioner. Any insight on this?

I have little fear to work on anything mechanical. but for safety and liability reasons I would never tear into the retraction mechanism, modify it and put it back into use. Most likely there would not be an problems, but its in the middle of a crash that you will be finding out...

I can't say I've had mine for years, as I only put it on when I go to track days, but I concur that my seatbelt will retract with the CGLock on there.

So if I'm correct, Stone17, when the pretensioner has gone off, the little pin at the end of that silver rod will be sticking out?

I don't understand. What is the purpose of the part you have pictured?
