Default Stock LS6/LS2 Balancer Weight?

Does anyone have the stock LS6/LS2 harmonic balancer pulley around? Could you weigh it? I'm in the middle of tallying up my weight reduction checklist and need that weight to finish it up.

Thanks in advance!

My impression holding them in my hands was that the ATI was heavier than the stock piece.

Are you sure about that? The ATI SuperDamper is huge, and it "only" weighs 6.75 lbs. I agree with AAIIIC that the stock balancer is significantly lighter.

It's also billet, and as such, is machined thinner that the stock casting, at least the 917278 on my car is.

The standards of comparison on the same scale are:

- 18 lb billet flywheel (surfaced once) weighs 17 lbs. 8.5 oz.

- LS7 stock wrist pin weighs 130.45 grams (when scale is used in metric mode) which is within factory tolerance. The LS2/6 balancer weighs 3.837 kg (8.437 lbs or 8 lbs. 6.992 oz.) when weighed in the metric mode, pretty close to the earlier measurement.

- OEM LS6 valves weigh 74 g. (int.) and 64 g. (ex.), also within factory tolerance

When building a motor, I use this scale to weigh all my reciprocating parts when component weight matching and calculating the bob weight that's furnished to the machine shop. It hasn't let me down yet.

Fair enough. I made a note of the weight, which changed my rotating mass tally for the better.

I originally assumed that the stock balancer weighed about 2 lbs after trying and failing to find a report online identifying the weight. So I went from a 5 lb weight gain to a roughly 2 lb weight loss on the rotating assembly. That also knocked me below 3800 lbs with a full tank of gas but no driver.

Thanks!
