Default Vinyl wrapping a V ... How many sqft?

Couldn't find any solid numbers, although there are a handful of examples featured (mostly 09+ V's). Thinking of doing it in Hexis' brand of matte white.

This guy apparently got a 2nd generation CTS-V group buy together for about $1000. Maybe ask him for more details.

I've been looking into this, but the $3000 price I get everytime I call a place is putting me off.

I've seen prices all over the board for a full job from start to finish, ranging from $800 (supply your own vinyl, always seems to be around $400-$500), to $3000+, to many points between. Supposedly a place up in SLC here in UT did it for $1600-ish for an Audi owner, with about half of that being vinyl:

I've read so many how-to's it doesn't seem like it'd be hard at all as long as you didn't rush it and had some spare hands to help. DIY'ers are quoting under a grand to do it yourself.

I figure I should probably know how much vinyl I need, though, so I don't have to wait on shipping should I need more halfway through my project.

they're a lot more expensive if you get it wrapped with a printed vinyl as opposed to a just plain vinyl. I've been quoted anywhere from 1200-2400 from local places i'm friends with. A local shop offered to do my car for cost of material, but i'd have to have a large advertisement printed on the sides, which I'm not interested in.

A member on here was getting a group buy together with a shop he knew. It was in AZ, but the price was 900 for full car with standard colors, mattes also.

That was a while back though.

two options:
Buy the vinyl and do it yourself (couple hundred bucks even for decent vinyl). Its actually very easy. You need a handy friend and an entire day and patience. I did my E36 in carbon for about $150.

Plasti Dip the car. Super easy and only about $300. Plus its easily removable.
(this is my plan)

Plasti-dip just screams "half-assing" to me. It's not a long-term solution nor is it meant to be ... the vinyl is a 3, 5, 7, or even 10 year solution (according to the manufacturers).

I have Plasti-dipped things before, and just did my CTS grilles in it to see if I'd like them powdercoated black, but plasti-dip is not exactly what I am looking for.

Also, the paint underneath is fine. The vinyl used doesn't cause any damage to it... there are people putting it on Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Audis, Mercs, etc. without reports of issues post-removal.

Any pics or write-ups of your E36, or links to the ones you used?

Ill try to find some pics. I have none of the install though. I bought 50'x5' off ebay for $100 to do my drift E36 again. The hard part is being patient. I used a hair dryer to warm it instead of a heat gun. I think it works better cause there is less chance of melting it. I just looked at youtube and went from there. I also used windex on large parts to prevent bubbles. Park it in the sun for a few hours afterwards at it is good to go. I also used some clear enamel to paint on the seams underneath to prevent it from curling off.

Plasti dip is what it is. Its fun to change colors, cheap, and no chance of messing anything up. Vinyl takes more skill and time, but you are also way more pissed when it gets messed up. Not to mention after a few years, it is an absolute b#tch to remove it. I cussed at my M3 way longer removing the carbon vinyl than installing it.

Ill be plasti dipping my wheels and grill black (on stealth gray) this week, then redoing the entire car/wheels white in the spring. Ill post pics/vids when I do it.

When i wrapped my 05 cts v i purchased about 150 ft of flat white but i used about half on the car even though i redid every door once and front bumper twice. local shops charged about 2500 to 3500. the film came from fellers for about 300 and its 3m. if you plan on doing it your self watch some videos on youtube it got me thru most of the wrap. also recommend doing a edge sealer at the end so you wont get water stuck behind the film.
