Default 06-07 Differential question

Hello all,

So I recently bought an 06 and have been worried about beating on it too hard because of the differential (too many bad stories). Luckily, I havent noticed much, if any, wheel hop. I will be installing the Gforce drivers axle to help even more.

The question is:
I've heard about many 04-05 owners diff going boom, but not as many 06-07s. How many 06-07 owners are there out there that have blown their diff?

I've had over 30 passes with my 07 at the track and so far so good. With wheel hop occasionally, with the Maggie its gotten worse tho. All passes were on street tires tho.

They'll take some abuse just stay out of wheelhop. Never dragged mine with the stock diff, but plenty of auto X, ripping and tearing, and of course sliding all over the place when I got bored and my tires were cooked.

All 04-07 diff, all generations will blow with the right conditions but yes 4thgen is the strongest

some people blow them on stock power with wheel hop at the track, while other 4gen diffs will stand up to HP/TQ and only blow upgraded axles /cvs.. There is no "red pill" or "blue pill" thread YET, that will tell you what the best combination of parts is.. all i know is the more aftermarket support the better

My car was putting down 518 with a 4th gen diff for a while, and with a gforce axle, I had very little wheel hop, but when it did, I let out. I went with an 8.8, so longevity could still be questioned, but it held that power with no problems.

That's the 1st I've heard of an 06-07 going out with low mileage and normal use (let's face it, we wheel hop anytime it rains and we pull into traffic). do you have a pic of the casing? I would love to see if it's the same failure I've seen a dozen pics of on 04 and early 05 models...

For what it's worth my 06 has 95k miles and there is no whine, no issues. Just had its first fluid change ever. One time I tried a 3k clutch dump from a stand still and the rear end started jumping around so I don't do that anymore (like a dumbass). Other than that I launch hard and shift pretty quickly sometimes and I don't have any wheel hop unless like others said it is wet out from raining that is easy to get some excess spin and hop.

I have an 07 diff in my 05 (warranty!), but I don't launch mine at all. I'll wait until I can get the GForce axles, and some 95A Revshift Cradle bushings before I go nuts.

Mine went at 40 but n pics. The casing has no visible cracks but ithink mayb a hairline crack around the axle seal. Post pics up when i pop open the case since i lost a bit of axle in the case and it shredded y gears. Should look cool
