Where did you get that cover for your diff? Did it need to be modded?

Don't know...only cost $100 extra. I got the full CS kit since the price is so low now. Here's another pic...you tell me what's different, lol.

I can say that it fits very well. The fill port even lines up with the relief in the cradle so you have access to it. Again, best money ever spent on the V IMO.

Just put my order in, it took everything I had not to go with 3.73's and I ordered the 3.55.
Hope I like my decision

Got new rear cradle bushings on the way too...

I would take 3.55 or even taller in a second as I drive 25k a year. Reasons would be better use of first gear and hwy mpg.

Good to hear man...it will feel like a brand new car when you get it together. The 8.8 and poly bushings are bar none the best all around improvement you can do for a V IMO. You will not be disappointed.

The actual gearing is not too much of a change...maybe 200 RPM. IMO the reduced rotating resistance will make more of difference in MPG than the gearing change will. I really feel no difference with regard to the gearing...first is still useless, second gear starts prevail, and performance wise I cannot feel a difference. I can still break the wheels loose in second on demand.

I guess I could have gone a smidge higher, say 3.42's or so...but the 3.55's put me right where I think the car should have come from the factory.

I think a 3.31 is about perfect for this car. That's 12-15% more gear than the Corvette.

Im shocked that u guys are going taller with the gearing. I think thins the is geared to tall as is. I could be a fun car in stock form with 4.11s or somthinh but it seems like it would be even mor of a dog with 3.31s.have fun driving around in 1st all day and toping the car out @220mph

It depends what you want from the car. You shouldnt have any more gear then 3.27s in your setup IMO. For a stock car I think 3.73s are a perfect fit with the mn12 trans. 600rwhp twin screw car the gearing doesnt matter a whole lot cause its into the powerband just about everywhere and I think 3.55s are a good choice.

after being invited to a race last night i took a look under the hood. now since the 8.8 install with 3.55's the car felt like a dog.. well come to find out my belt had streched almost 3 full inches causing serious slip. replaced the belt and i got my power back!!

i now think the 3.55's were a good choice! not much difference besides a little longer in between shift points. which helps my 2nd-3rd. 4th feels like it goes on for a full 5 seconds lol but pulls the entire time.

What speed are you guys with the 3.55's using 6th?
And does the OEM ford clutch packs need a friction modifier?

BTW gas milage for me is no concern, if it was I'd be driving a Prius

Wrong size tires = wrong speed reading. With a 3.31 differential gear ratio, you'll hit 2000 RPM at 85 mph in sixth.

If you had the power...with 3.55's in the rear 5th gear top speed (6500) rpm is approx 178 mph

All this is in the DIY 8.8 thread at the bottom of page 12 posted by 54

yea on paper..but in the real world with all the variables i dont see that happening..ill give it a go later though and see what i get..ill see if i can find some one to record as well.

gotta remember a gearing chart is just that..it doesnt take into account aerodynamics, weight, conditions etc. we do have a brick style front end after all
