gotta remember a gearing chart is just that..it doesnt take into account aerodynamics, weight, conditions etc. we do have a brick style front end after all
It is what it is. On paper and in life. Its math. If there is enough power to reach that RPM, then that is what the car will do. Yes I know there are variables, wind weight etc but again, if you have the power to over come them, the top speed will be exactly what is says it will be on paper.

So If I can get my car to turn 6500 rpm in 5th gear, I know I will be doing approx 178mph.

Also, where in CT are you doing these high speed runs? Mexico sure is along ways away!

50-150 in 5th will take forever!!! Then I can already see everyone saying "why did you change gears? see it made your car slower"

Mathematically, that shouldn't be happening. Have you verified your speed with GPS?

Youtube does not allow iphone videos over a certain size without the format being changed. You'll have to have it coded to an .avi or something to that degree. Apple uses some type of video format that youtube does not like. It is annoying.

Here is the vid. Car sounds sick man! The way it ripped through 2nd gear makes me think it could do an even lower gear no problem but it may affect driveability down low. Vid quality was a little low I think it was compressed when sent as a message.

Kudos for ignoring any real calculations.

You want a brick front end for good ground based aerodynamics.....

Yes, the chart/calculations are a baseline, but you will be fairly close.....same with ET calculations...

Dawg! I have to meet you as you post some of the most insanely crazy ****. Math is where it is at. Then you go to the track and get results. Period.

Really? Come on FL, calculations are for base lines and planning, that's it. Without people ignoring the "real" calculation(personally I have never seen "fake" calculations, we would never had pioneers in the racing fields.

20 years ago people would say you were crazy if you said we would be running insane times on a 275 tire.

On the flip side, I just got a new differential book and found some VERY interesting info on the 8.8.

I am going to post it in the REAL 8.8 thread.
