Installed Parrot Asteroid Smart headunit
Im look at getting a Parrot Asteroid Smart Radio.
What do I need to install the headunit?
Just a dash kit and wiring harness.
What do you guys think about this radio?

Looks like it is the same one, bought mine from crutchfield everyone else had a ridiculous lead time.

Edit: do not connect the chime module, it will double up with the oem system.

This is all I have at the moment, I still have functionality as far as tc and stability goes. I can leave them on, go to comp mode, or shut them all off. As per the norm you lose all the little information tid bits that the oem unit gives. Bluetooth built in, works like a charm for music and phone.
Had to pick up one of these to make sure I had full functionality without the parking brake, foot brake, and gps interfering.
Edit: Even running through BT I get all the song info, and quite a few management options.

To bad it doesn't have an external video input besides the camera.
One day someone is gonna get "smart" enough to offer a replacement like this with a OBDII interface that simulates the OEM radio.
I bought a CANBUS analyzer so my long term project is to collect a library of OBDII radio codes and radio generated codes.
More wishware......

The alpine deck has an auxilary in with a video feed attached. You could always run an ipod or mp3 player via auxilary input and feed the canbus or whatnot through a composite feed. That would give you whatever audio you wanted and the oem screen, controlling would be the issue at hand in regard to the oem data.

***** on the OEM Cad radio/nav.
It is the making the radio/nav an integral part of the driving functions that pisses me off.
I hope the GM/Delphi shumcks that came up with this crap were the first ones they laid off.

The Parrot has an option for that. Don't know if anyone has looked at their other stuff, but that little rotor winged thing is pretty awesome for only $300. And to think...they have a drone for $8k...how F-ing awesome would that be?
