Hendrix used to be the cheapest, although I believe since Magnuson was bought out everyone pays the same price regardless. $6500 new and about $4200 used.

There was a time when Hendrix was selling brand new kits for $4500 because i almost bought it a few times. Its hard to believe the mark up on them now. I would call around some sponsors here and see what they will do but since its under new ownership like said above I dont think there is much wiggle room.

I bought mine directly from Magnuson back in the day for $4500 but I think they were just trying to clear their shelves at the time. I'd call them and see if they have anything laying around. $6500 is too much for old technology.

Look into a TVS1900 possibly unless you can score an MP112 for a reasonable price.
