Default Anyone else having this problem?

When I bought my car in April last year only one of the horns was working. So I bought a new one and replaced it. It worked fine until I got stuck in a monsoon type rain storm a few weeks ago and went through some pretty big puddles (also ripped off my lower air dam and inner fender well plastic). Something happened to the horn. It sounded like the "meep meep" the road runner makes in the cartoons. So, I bought another one and replaced it again. Worked fine for a few days until I went through a carwash on Saturday. Now one of the horns is out again.

Does anyone else have issues with their horn and water? I don't think I should be on my 4th horn in about 18 months. Is there anything I can do to protect it from water?

Is the horn opening facing up or down? If it faces up, then it will hold water and burn out the horn pretty quickly.

I'll have to check. As far as I could tell the bracket will only install one way, there is a notch in the bumper support for it. I installed them as I got them.

Bad grounding will also cause it.

Mine have been intermittently dying on me for the past few months. The "fix" has been simply unplugging the harness and reseating it. There must be something else going on, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's an intermittent ground (as Sweetwillie mentioned).

Of course, you only discover your horns aren't working when you need your horns to work, at which point it's a bit of a rude surprise that you have no way to signal the douche that's about to sideswipe you!

I have found that a small train horn fixes the problem.

that or get the "hella" horns they may be "rice". but as long as you dont throw them in the grill to be completely visible to everyone i think theyre fine. i dont know how CTS-Vs horns are, but with the Fbody horns they are very quiet so it was almost pointless. i never installed a aftermarket horn but i was contemplating it with my camaro.

I have Hella Supertones on my Subaroo - I painted them black. And then I added some horns I got off a Cadillac in the junkyard. :p The Supertones are definitely loud, and the higher tone they give off is annoying (hence it tends to get you noticed when you use them, which is typically what you want).
