CTS-V Mod Hell - Fall 2013

Ah. If you read AAIIIC's post, he ran into a mechanical interference between the end of the bolt and the OEM V2 rotors, which he drilled for 6 lug hub compatibility. According to him, the V1 spindle isn't as thick as the V2 spindle, and he never said whether the 45mm M14 bolts poked through the V1 spindle, or if they were just not as badly oversized as the V2 bolts.
So, bottom line is that I already spent the money on the bolts, and for better or worse, it looks like I'm not going to have to get out the Sawzall for this one.

Only problem with those lithiums in the cold is they can take a couple minutes to warm up enough to start the car. You gotta turn the headlights on or try cranking and then let it sit for a while. I'm sure you know that but let us know how that one works, they are getting better all the time.

Unlike some people, I know what sponsorship means. As a former national-level swimmer, I was sponsored for one year by Speedo and three years by TYR, which happened because of a change in my team's affiliation after we had a big problem procuring the original Speedo Fastskin for all of our swimmers at the Speedo Sectional Championships in Minnesota.
On the car front, no sponsorships. I'm not interested in advertising. I've received a couple of discounts on purchases for providing general support to vendors (e.g. providing measurements, helping troubleshoot parts, identifying new product possibilities) and setting up group buys. While I'm grateful for these "thank you" gestures, the money I save amounts to minimum wage when you factor in the number of hours I usually end up investing on a given project.
In summary, I'm not in this for a feeling of importance--I appreciate the opportunity to exercise my engineering abilities (both mechanical and electrical) in a practical kind of way, and driving fast is an adrenaline rush that only gets better as the mods continue to stack up.

Fuzzy, did you ever get the Deka battery installed? I've been anxiously awaiting pulling the trigger on a small AGM battery to get rid of the massive battery tray and ditch some weight.
